Chapter 267 Does It Bother You?

James laughed. “You have no idea how happy I was when I got your call asking for help. Otherwise, tonight would’ve been boring as hell. If you need anything in the future, just come to me.” What he didn’t say was that he’d just handed out a free favor, and that favor would be paid back by Halle.
The more James thought about it, the happier he got. He looked at Halle with a serious face, but his eyes told a very different story.
So only Halle noticed the contrast in James before and after.
Halle was furious and didn’t want to deal with him. She opened her arms and suddenly hugged Ayla, habitually planting a hard kiss on her cheek. “Ayla, you’re the best!”
James stiffened at the sight.
Ayla hugged Halle back and kissed her cheek too. “You’re the best too.”
James’s smile was about to crack.
So my love rival isn’t some pretty boy. It’s Ayla?
Just then, Draven’s voice cut in. “Come inside.”
Halle thought she was hallucinating. She snapped her head up, saw who it was, and froze in disbelief.
Holy hell!
Draven, the untouchable CEO himself, is in
my house?
Halle panicked a little. “Ayla, why didn’t you tell me earlier?” If she’d known, she wouldn’t have wasted so much time in the garden. She would’ve gone in to greet Draven sooner.
“I was just about to tell you.”
As Ayla spoke, she glanced at Draven. With other people around, images of hugging him and holding hands suddenly flashed through her mind, and she felt a bit embarrassed.
Oh, no. I invited Draven to move in with me, but I haven’t prepared myself to tell Halle yet.
Feeling guilty, Ayla instinctively leaned even closer to Halle,
Draven’s gaze casually fell on their joined hands, then just as casually moved away. His expression was as cool as ever.

Halle was momentarily frozen by the CEO’s aura. But since he was always like this, she didn’t think much of it.
With Draven here, she didn’t even have time to feel annoyed by James.
She straightened up instantly, grabbed Ayla, and hurried back inside to host the CEO.
Halle had never imagined that Draven would ever come to her house as a guest. Once again, it was thanks to her best friend.
Earlier today, Lisa had personally come to her company and sincerely handed her two partnership contracts.
Halle had thought that once Rolf apologized, the matter was over. She hadn’t expected Lisa to come and clean things up afterward.
After signing the contracts, Lisa even took the initiative to invite her to dinner and said she wanted to stay in closer contact.
Ayla was, hands down, her strongest connection.
Halle’s home décor had excellent taste, but once Draven stepped inside, her artsy, upscale style suddenly felt a bit lacking next to his cool, aristocratic presence.
Luxurious and grand interiors suited him far better.
The couches and chairs at home were all artistic pieces. After inviting Draven to sit, Halle politely asked, “Mr. Storm, would you like a drink? I have a bottle I’ve been saving for over 20 years…”
James had just walked in and immediately felt annoyed hearing that. “What do you mean, Ms. Kinsman? Why didn’t you offer me that the last time I came? But Draven shows up, and suddenly you’re generous? That’s some serious favoritism. You’d be better off flattering me more. I’m soft–hearted. If you need help, I’ll definitely help you. Not like some people, all cold and icy.”
Draven silently looked at James, then at Halle.
He understood exactly what was going on.
He decided to forgive James’s loose mouth for now.
Halle almost blurted out, Can you even compare to Draven?
But she didn’t dare say it.

James, on the other hand, said whatever came to mind. It was honestly enviable.

Her face showed no cracks as she replied smoothly, “Perfect. We get nice things because of Mr. Storm tonight.”
James was speechless.
Halle was sharp. She always said exactly what he didn’t want to hear. He was gonna blow a gasket.
For the first time, James really wasn’t feeling Draven. “I’m saying, can you maybe stop dropping by other people’s houses for no reason? Everyone has to treat you like a king. You feel great, but everyone else gets exhausted. All you do is make trouble for people!”
Draven asked Halle seriously, “Does it bother you?”
“Not at all! Mr. Storm, you and Ayla should come by often!” Halle would love to get closer to Draven.
“Sure,” Draven answered, then looked at James and shut him down with one move. “Did you hear that?”
James was internally wounded, but outwardly shameless. “Yup, I heard it, loud and clear!”
Then he turned back and looked at Halle expectantly. “So, Ms. Kinsman, you’re such a warm and hospitable host. I live right next door. If I come by to visit sometime, can you welcome me just as warmly as you do Draven?”
Halle rolled her eyes.
She really wanted to slap him.
James seriously has no shame!
It was the first time Ayla had ever seen Halle so completely at a loss. She froze for a moment before stepping in and holding James back. “You love lively gatherings the most. It’s rare for us all to be together. Halle brought wine. Why don’t you go find something to eat?” She had to give him something to do. Otherwise, with all that energy, he’d spend it all roasting Halle.
