Divorce and Freedom No More Homemaker for Him

Rolf had always looked down on Ayla. He knew she’d schemed her way into marrying Troy. Surrounded by wealthy and powerful people, he’d seen plenty of women trying to climb the ladder. In his eyes, Ayla was no different, and he never respected her.
“She doesn’t need you speaking for her,” Rolf said coldly.
Max frowned, then quickly smirked, his tone mocking. “Fine, I’ll keep my nose out of it. Happy now, Mr. Rolf?”
His words sounded casual, but the hand on Rolf’s shoulder shifted, tightening around his neck. With a sharp pull, he locked Rolf in a chokehold.
Rolf was about the same height as Max, but Max worked out more, always chasing women’s attention. Clothes might hide the difference, but once stripped down, Max’s strength was obvious.
Rolf couldn’t break free. He slapped at Max’s arm, gasping, “I came here on business.”
Max loosened his grip slightly. “What is it? Don’t tell me you’re here for your dad.”
Conrad was there too, but his focus was on Storm Group. If Rolf tagged along, he’d get a chance to meet Storm’s top executives.
Max assumed that was Rolf’s plan.
Rolf shook his head. “I’ve taken over the family’s tech branch. We’re building a large new language model. I’m short on AI talent, so I came here to try my luck. This project has nothing to do with my dad.”
Skyla was one of those talents.
If he could bring Skyla to his company, he was ready to offer her a multi–million annual salary.
Skyla was skilled and had numerous hobbies. Rolf had never met a woman so impressive, and he admired her instantly. Whether she would even consider joining his small company didn’t matter yet.
Even if she did, Troy would never allow it.
Troy had given her top–level resources, the kind no one else could match. Compared to that, Rolf didn’t stand a chance,
Max grinned. “Average talent wouldn’t catch your eye anyway. You might end up leaving empty–handed.”

Rolf shook his head. “Skyla mentioned LugiX to me. That model came out three years ago. I plan to find the developer behind it.”
If he could track that person down, it would fuel his company’s new project. The payoff would be enormous once the product was released.
Rolf was determined to make it happen.
Max, being in venture capital, didn’t
pry
further.
But something popped into his mind. He remembered once asking Ayla about her background. She had told him she graduated in computer science from Agron University–one of the top schools in the country.
Strangely, Troy didn’t seem to know that.
Meanwhile, Ayla put the earlier incident behind her and finally found the ballroom.
Nelson Poe, assistant to the vice president, informed her that the meeting had already ended. Both their bosses and their teams had moved into the dining hall for lunch.
It was nearly noon, so the meal was right on schedule.
Ayla followed Nelson into the elevator toward the private dining room.
When they reached the door, she simply considered handing over the documents and leaving.
But Nelson urged her to join them.
Big business lunches always included extra staff. Some people even showed up just to tag along. With so many at the table, no one would notice one or two more. And for many, sitting in that room could mean building connections that might change their future.
Ayla followed Nelson into the private room.
Because it was the top–tier suite, the long table in the center was huge–at least 15 to 18 feet long. It could seat 20 to 30 people, and most of the chairs were already taken.
She looked around but couldn’t spot Herman. Instead, the first person she noticed near the door was Conrad.
There was no time to study the room. She walked behind Nelson to the two empty seats that were available.

Nelson sat next to Herman.

Ayla greeted Herman politely, then lifted her eyes–only to freeze.
Draven sat right across from her in a sharp black suit.

It was the first time she had ever seen him in formal wear. The clean lines of his suit made him look even more distant, almost untouchable.
Unlike the others, busy networking and making small talk, Draven stayed silent. He leaned back in his chair, eyes lowered, calm but commanding. Even without speaking, his presence filled
the room.
In that instant, it clicked for Ayla.
Draven wasn’t just some high–ranking executive. He was the real man behind Storm Group.
The realization shocked her, but at the same time, she was not entirely surprised.
Halle had told her about his achievements overseas. Draven himself had mentioned to Martin that he wouldn’t be leaving Trensea anytime soon.
The signs were all there. She just hadn’t connected them.
Once the surprise passed, Ayla sat in the empty seat beside him.
“Mr. Storm,” she said softly, handing over the file.
Draven didn’t even glance at her. He showed no surprise at her presence.
Ayla couldn’t help thinking–no matter how unexpected something was, Draven would never show it on his face.
He opened the file, skimmed through it, and then passed it to Herman. The two of them immediately began discussing the contents.
Ayla sat quietly to the side. She didn’t see Will anywhere in the room.
If he had been there, she would have asked him straight out–had he known all along that she was working as Draven’s secretary?
Still, for Halle’s sake, she doubted Will would have kept it from her.
