At that moment, the phone rang.
Could it be Troy?

Just the thought of it lifted Skyla’s mood a little. There was no doubt that Troy still cared about her. But when she checked the screen, it was Zane.
Skyla’s expression darkened instantly. She answered the call, her voice full of impatience. “What do you want?”
“Busy?” Zane sensed her displeasure. “Aren’t you off work already?”
“What is it?” Skyla had no patience for small talk
Hearing her icy tone, anger flared in Zane’s chest. But she was his sister, after all, and he couldn’t afford to fall out with her. He suppressed his temper and said, “About what happened with my game last time… I was in a bad mood and snapped at you. Sis, I’m sorry. didn’t mean it.”
I
Skyla sneered. “It’s been over a month, and now you remember to apologize? What were you doing before?”
“I’m sorry. I was wrong.”
“Sorry is useless. Do you have any idea how disappointed I am in you? You had a perfect hand and still played it into the ground, got stomped on by Kaleb! And you still had the nerve to question me back then?” Skyla was already in a terrible mood, and she poured all her anger onto Zane, not caring how he felt. She lashed out nonstop, venting everything inside her until she felt relieved.
The words were brutal, and Zane’s face grew darker by the second. He almost smashed his phone on the spot.
He held it in and finally said, “Stop talking.”
That only infuriated Skyla further. “Stop talking It’s because I haven’t scolded you enough! You’re spineless! You can’t do anything right, yet all you know how to do is take your temper out on me! If you were even a little more capable, I’d look better too! Do you know why Troy looks down on you…”
“Skyla, you’re the most impressive person in the world,” Zane interrupted. Then, with feigned curiosity, he asked, “But if you’re so impressive, why couldn’t you track down the hacker who attacked my company?”

Skyla froze.

“That was my biggest game project. I invested tens of millions into it,” he said calmly. “You didn’t want to help me? Or you couldn’t?” He didn’t raise his voice. His tone was perfectly normal-yet every word cut deep.
“So you’re not as amazing as I thought.”
Skyla finally registered what he was saying. It felt as if a knife had pierced straight through her. Her pride was dragged out and flogged, and she stood there, stunned, unable to say a word.
The people who hurt you the most are always the ones who know you best.
Skyla was so angry she nearly lost her mind.
How dare Zane say something like that to her!
“Skyla, don’t be mad. I called to apologize,” Zane said lightly. “Anyway, you’re more capable than I. As your little brother, I can’t compare to you.” With that, he hung up.
Skyla hurled her phone onto the floor.
With a loud bang, the screen shattered into pieces. Her face flushed red, her shoulders trembling uncontrollably.
Even now, Skyla could hardly believe it.
Zane had dared to mock her? To look down on her?
That idiot Zane… What right did he have to look down on her?
Skyla couldn’t rein in her fury. She would rather have Kaleb as her brother!
All these years, Skyla had worked relentlessly to limb higher. She had finally forced her way into Troy’s circle back in her student days, becoming his friend, becoming someone others envied. And she intended to climb even higher in the future.
For Zane to look down on her was something Skyla absolutely could not accept.
Tomorrow, she would definitely go to the Winstons. She would make sure everyone there knew exactly who she was.
She was going to steal the spotlight.

Chapter 350 Zane’s Phonecall
Ever since Troy met Ayla yesterday, he had been waiting for her message.
It was already late at night. No calls. No messages. Nothing.
He was starting to wonder if Ayla had simply forgotten about it.

Or was she deliberately waiting until tomorrow, until he went to pick her him an answer?
up,
before giving
Troy hated the feeling of being chosen. He truly regretted giving Ayla a whole day. He should have forced her to agree to remarry him on the spot-that would have put his mind at ease.
So now, he regretted it.
He regretted not doing that in the first place.
At this moment, Troy was sitting in his study. There was still work he needed to handle, but his mind wouldn’t settle. He couldn’t get anything done.
In the end, he went to take a shower.
Not long after, Troy came out of the bathroom wearing a black bathrobe, his hair still dripping wet. He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling mirror, staring at his own face. His brows were dark, his gaze heavy-his bad mood couldn’t have been more obvious.
Ever since Troy could remember, his mood was rarely good. Happiness was the exception; more often than not, he felt so low he didn’t want to do anything at all.
Yet looking at himself in the mirror now, he felt strangely unfamiliar, as if he hadn’t truly seen himself like this in a very, very long time.
Was that so?
Why did it feel this way?
Troy tugged at his hair. He refused to believe that the person in the mirror was a stranger.
Could it be that those three years of marriage to Ayla had been happier than the twenty-plus years he’d spent single before that?
