So, she might need a few days alone to calm down.
Thank goodness work saved her.

After hanging up, Ayla took off the emerald bracelet she still hadn’t removed and slipped it into her bag.
A sudden thought crossed her mind. If she really ended up with Draven, then the bracelet would truly be hers. There would be no need to return it.
She paused.
She wasn’t that greedy.
Draven ended the call. Herman walked into the office.
Draven sat back in his chair, calm and composed as always. When he focused on work, his presence felt even stronger.
Even Herman, his close friend, had to be careful around him.
“Troy is looking into you and Ayla,” Herman said “He wants to figure out what your relationship really is.”
Herman was curious. “Why start investigating now?”
Last time, Troy had only had people follow them. This time, he seemed serious.
Luckily, Draven had told Herman to keep an eye on Troy, but he wouldn’t find anything.
A trace of cold mockery flashed through Dravens eyes. So Troy was finally anxious. What was he in such a rush for?
Draven tightened his grip on his phone,
Herman didn’t wait for an answer and continued “Last night, he even had people crash into
his cousins’ cars.”
Draven said flatly, “He regrets getting the divorce”
Herman had dealt with Troy before. “If he regrets it, he should lower his head. That kind of move doesn’t seem like him.”

Draven replied, “Yeah. Even if he regrets it, he won’t admit it.”
That was Troy’s nature.

Herman didn’t know Troy as well as Draven did, but he agreed. Then he heard Draven give an order. “Don’t let him find out anything about Ayla and me.”
Draven didn’t want to provoke Troy.
He chose to defend.
At the family gathering, he had seen Ayla stand cold and firm against the entire family.
If he still doubted that she was completely done with Troy, then he would be too narrow- minded.
Draven still felt jealous of Troy. But once he was sure Ayla wouldn’t go back to him, it became a kind of safety net. His biggest rival was out. He could finally relax and stop caring so much about Troy.
But defending didn’t mean he wasn’t in a hurry.
Ayla had fully turned the page on her past. Draven didn’t want to wait anymore.
Just like last night, when he couldn’t hold back and quietly kissed her, his pride in self- control had completely failed. He was certain he was close to losing control. He needed to do something. Ayla needed to be mentally prepared. Otherwise, one day he might scare her when he loses control.
She might even think he was some dark, twisted man.
From their call just now, Ayla had sounded very calm. Kaleb probably hadn’t told her anything. Like Ayla said, Kaleb was hoping they would “break up.” There was no need to mention that he wanted to become Kaleb brother-in-law.
But Ayla couldn’t stay in the dark forever.
Draven gave the order again. “Track Ayla’s schedule. Report to me at all times.”
Herman froze. There were plenty of reasons to keep an eye on Troy, sure. But why monitor Ayla too?
He had already been shocked when he learned that Draven and Ayla were pretending to be a couple. And now Draven was treating Ayla like someone who needed guarding.
Still, Herman didn’t ask questions. He never did.

If it involved Ayla, Draven wouldn’t hand it to just anyone.

Will was completely out of the loop. His brain hadn’t caught up yet, and he had no idea what Draven was really thinking. This matter wasn’t for him.
After the initial shock faded, Herman accepted it surprisingly fast. From the very first time he met Ayla, he had noticed the way Draven looked after her. It was subtle, easy to miss, but impossible to fake. It wasn’t planned. It was instinct.
In fact, Herman suspected Draven had feelings for Ayla much earlier than anyone realized.
Too bad his younger brother got there first.
Now it was Draven’s turn to take her back, and Troy didn’t stand a chance.
Ayla met Halle at the airport. She didn’t say anything at first.
Only after the long flight-after landing and checking into the hotel-did she finally speak.
“Draven likes me.”
She had to talk to Halle about this. If nothing else, it helped ease the pressure in her chest.
“What?” Halle’s eyes lit up at once. She dropped her phone, ignoring the flood of unread messages, and stared at Ayla with pure curiosity. Did he tell you himself?”
Ayla narrowed her eyes, her gaze sharp. “You know he liked me?”
Halle nodded honestly. “That night Troy set me up, remember? We were having a supper at my place. Draven talked to me for a bit. He asked what kind of man would be good enough for you. He didn’t say anything outright, but come on, it was obvious.”
Ayla was stunned.
So not only had Draven gone to Kaleb, but he had also worked his way to Halle. Quietly. Thoroughly. That man was full of schemes.
He won over the people she cared about, one by one, right under her nose.
In front of her, he was careful and restrained. With everyone else, he moved fast and without mercy. His goal was painfully clear, and he was incredibly forceful about it.
Ayla looked at Halle. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
