He spoke in a calm, instructive tone, but his reply was cold and sharp. “Every bit of pain Ayla suffered with you will be healed with me. In a way, Troy, you’re the one who pushed her straight into my arms.”

Troy froze for a second.

Then his face went pale, and his whole body began to shake.

Draven was the “gentle” type. He didn’t have Troy’s obsession or madness. But sometimes, being gentle was even more deadly. It struck right at the heart and made the pain sink deep into the soul.

A madman with an obsession wasn’t afraid of losing everything. Draven wouldn’t go easy either. But with shared blood between them and Martin still around, his revenge had limits. He couldn’t cause real damage yet. Still, he knew exactly where Troy’s weak spot was.

So this counted as revenge too.

At the same time, Draven despised his own dark and ugly thoughts. But there was no more pretending. Everything was out in the open. And Draven had never claimed to be a good man. He would do whatever it took to get what he wanted. That’s why he knew one ugly truth -Troy hurting Ayla was good for him.

Even so, he had rushed over as fast as he could today. He hadn’t delayed on purpose. Troy wasn’t weak enough to be fully under his watch, and there were moments he couldn’t track.

And Draven would never put Ayla in danger on purpose. He wasn’t that kind of person. He was more like the prince in a fairy tale, showing up at the key moment to save the princess and win her heart.

But what had happened was already done, and Draven saw the part of it that worked in his favor.

Even though he hadn’t chased Ayla using such dirty means, just having that thought tore at him. Would Ayla ever love someone as tainted as him?

Troy no longer had the strength to say anything Draven, who had known him for as many years as he had lived, understood him too well. He knew exactly where Troy’s weakness lay. That one sentence crushed him and broke his will, if only for a moment.

Troy also knew Draven’s weakness. But that weakness had no place to strike. At least for now, he had no idea how to drag Draven down.

Draven shoved Troy aside and immediately went to look for Ayla. As he came down from the

rush of the confrontation, fear hit him all at once. His face looked calm, but he knew how panicked his heart truly was.

On the rooftop helipad, a helicopter was waiting

Shawn was already inside. He meant to step out.

But Ayla still hadn’t fully recovered. She waved him off, shaking her hand lightly, choosing to stand there alone.

Shawn thought her leg injury was acting up and moved to help. God knew how nervous he was right now. He still didn’t know how he was going to explain this to Draven…

The view from the rooftop was beautiful. Below them, the harbor lights glowed bright against the night.

A tall, sharp-looking figure took the stairs three at a time, rushing up. Very soon, he spotted the lone, cool figure standing there.

Hearing the noise, Ayla turned around and saw Draven.

She ran straight toward him. Draven opened his arms and hurried forward, catching her firmly. Her feet even lifted off the ground. The hug was strong and burning hot. Even from far away, it was clear how badly they wanted to hold each other. Their hair lifted in the wind, screaming what words never could.

Shawn froze. He had been just about to help Ayla onto the helicopter. His steps stopped cold. He understood now. It wasn’t that her leg hurt. She was waiting for Draven.

Wait-they’re a couple?

Damn it. Will actually dared to mess with me?

Draven didn’t pause. Holding Ayla, he boarded the helicopter. The blades sped up, slow to fast, kicking up a fierce wind.

With a loud bang, Troy slammed open the metal door to the rooftop stairs. He saw Ayla and Draven sitting inside the helicopter.

He ran toward them, eyes split wide with rage and pain. “Ayla!”

Only a few feet left. The helicopter lifted off. Try grabbed at empty air.

Through the window, Ayla met his gaze. There was no sadness, no joy in her eyes. Her face looked calm. Yet somehow, she had never felt so unfamiliar to him.

Then he saw her wrap her arms around Draven’s neck and kiss him. Amid the roar of the helicopter, against the bright night lights of the harbor, they kissed-and vanished into the city skyline.

Troy’s legs gave out. One knee hit the ground. His hand tried to hold him up, but his body still collapsed flat. He covered his eyes with his arm. Then his stomach clenched. He clutched his gut, struggled up, and began to retch hard.

Ayla had kissed Draven. She did it on purpose so Troy would see it. And she knew he did.

As for why she did it, she hadn’t even figured that out yet. Her body moved before her mind could catch up.

She just kissed Draven.

When her lips first touched his, she was still thinking about putting on a show for Troy.

But maybe three seconds later, Troy was gone from her thoughts. All that remained was the soft warmth against her lips.
