Chapter 488 Unpleasant Relative

Ayla’s smile widened.

Draven saw the light in her eyes. Some of the ice in his gaze faded.

After she drove off, he stayed where he was. A few minutes later, a sleek black car rolled to a stop in front of him. The door opened from inside.

Jeremy leaned out. The second he saw Draven, his face lit up with fake joy, like this was some touching reunion. He dragged his eyes over him from head to toe like he was searching for signs of change.

Then he spoke. His voice came coated in grease. Hey, Draven. Long time no see.”

Draven’s stare was pure frost. He looked at Jeremy like he was already buried.

He waited two seconds, then got in the car.

The place was a highend vineyard. Private. Expensive.

Jeremy sipped a glass of red wine slowly. His skin was ghostpale, and the wine had stained the corners of his mouth. Against that sickly complexion, the red looked even more grotesque. Under the cold overhead lights, there was something twisted about him. He looked unnatural. Like a polished corpse trying to be charming.

You could throw the most respected preacher in the nation in front of him, and even he’d turn and walk the other way.

There wasn’t a single part of Jeremy that gave off a normal vibe.

Across from him, Draven sat still. Silent. Every inch of him was cleancut, composed, and dangerous. Just being there made Jeremy look like the bottom of a whiskey bottlesour, pathetic, and spilled.

Jeremy drank like this was his own private party. Draven didn’t touch the wine. His eyes stayed locked on Jeremy.

He looked like he was watching a bug. Like any second, he might crush it. If Ayla had been there, she wouldn’t have recognized him.

This Draven wasn’t gentle. He wasn’t just serious. He was sharp, controlled, and impossible to reach. He looked like someone you couldn’t stand too close to without getting hurt.

Jeremy didn’t care. He took another drink, grinned, and leaned back. Well, would you look at that. The poor little reject actually got himself a girlfriend. That’s wild. Didn’t see that coming. You proud of yourself, Draven? Finally walking tall? No longer the sad little nobody, huh?

Draven clasped his hands in front of him. His eyes stayed hidden in the shadow. What do you want?

Jeremy chuckled and shook his head. Seriously? I need a reason to check in on my own nephew now? You’re unbelievable. I used to take you out all the time when you were a kid.”

Draven didn’t flinch. You’ve seen me. Now leave.

Jeremy’s expression twisted. That’s how you talk to your uncle? You’ve gotten nasty.”

Draven didn’t answer. He stared right through him.

Jeremy let out a bored sigh. You were way more obedient when you were little. I could do whatever I wanted to you, and you wouldn’t even make a sound. Remember that time your mom caught us? Locked you up for two days. You almost starved to death. God, you were such a scared little thing.” He shook his head again, eyes gleaming with something sick. I really didn’t expect this. I thought you’d stay pathetic forever. I mean, you and your momboth of you turned out to be the biggest surprises in the whole damn family.

His voice got lazier. His thoughts skipped like a drunk’s. Oh, right. I remember now. I had this random idea one day. Figured I’d teach you something about sex, so I dragged you to one of my buddy’s clubs. Have you watched a live show? It’s right there in front of you.He laughed. You puked all over the place. Guess it traumatized you or something. After that, you never had a woman near you again. That was on me, huh? Maybe I pushed too far. Left you with some deeprooted fear. That’s why you hate women, right?
