Chapter 523 Steamy

Finished

When they had first started dating, their contact stayed limited to kisses and embraces, and Mr. Storm kept himself restrained. He rarely mentioned anything suggestive. Now, that restraint was gone. His words had grown more daring by the day, blunt enough to leave her flustered.

At the beginning, Ayla had honestly believed he was some ascetic who wanted nothing at all. She had been completely mistaken. If a casual touch could affect him this much now, then once they truly crossed that line on her birthday, how was Draven supposed to restrain himself?

He usually respected her wishes, but when it came to kissing and holding her, he always took control. Every kiss left her breathless.

If she hesitated, he would look wounded, and her heart would soften immediately. Fine, she would let him kiss her, let him nibble a little. She was on her period anyway, so nothing serious would happen. He could deal with his own frustration later. His problem, his solution.

But if she really gave in and they went all the way on her birthday, would he completely trap her without even trying?

Ayla did not dare think further. Mr. Storm approached everything with intensity. Surely he could not be someone with no restraint at all.

She questioned it and immediately doubted herself.

Ayla snorted, half at a loss for words.

Somehow, she had woven herself into a massive net and walked straight into it. She had never planned for things to move this fast. How had her birthday suddenly become the deadline? It was almost certain Mr. Storm had guided it there.

Gritting her teeth, Ayla sprawled on top of him without worrying about crushing him. She tugged his ear and leaned close.

If you’re suffering, suffer alone.

Draven slid his hand beneath her shirt to the small of her back, holding her firmly while stroking her skin. His voice was obedient to a fault. Alright, alright. I will endure it. Do whatever you want. I will listen to everything you say.

His deep voice was far too tempting.

The moment she heard it, her resolve completely collapsed. She pressed a hard kiss to his lips, calling it punishment.

He likely took it as a reward.

Ayla ignored that thought and buried her face near his ear, hugging him. She did not stop his roaming hand. Suddenly, she asked, Why did you come downstairs to leave with me that night?

If he had not mentioned it, she probably would not have dwelled on it.

She had been crying quietly at the Winston Estate, a mess and completely broken. It had been late, yet Draven had not been asleep. He had even seen her. They barely knew each other, the situation had been awkward, and yet he still chose to take her home. It had been an act of unexpected kindness.

Back then, she had desperately wanted to leave the Winston Estate.

Draven had given her a way out. Had he already sensed what she wanted and decided to help her escape?

And she had never asked him when his feelings for her began.

It probably had not been that first night at the estate. That would have been far too soon.

More likely, it had happened gradually, during those long days as boss and assistant.

She could not figure it out.

Draven’s thoughts were always difficult to read.

After her question, his hand slid to her hip and stilled.

Ayla blinked, lifted her head, and smiled with curiosity. No way. You did not like me that early, did you? Mr. Storm, if that is true, I will get smug.”

She had been in a terrible state back then. Looking back, she barely recognized herself. Pain drained all the strength from a person. Climbing out took time.

It was not something one sentence, one person, or even a fortune could fix overnight.

If Draven had truly intended to help her then, what would that mean? She would only fall deeper for him.

He rolled onto his back, and Ayla turned onto her side beside him. That is a secret. I will tell you when the time is right.

He did not want to lie to her.

But for reasons he could not explain, he could not say it yet.

Maybe it was simply how he was. He needed to feel secure first. Perhaps when Ayla wanted to marry him, when everything was settled, then he would tell her.

Ayla was burning with curiosity. You’re really not going to tell me?

Draven turned the question on her. When did you start liking me?

Ayla answered without hesitation. After I met you. Falling for you felt natural.

Draven sighed inwardly.

Did that mean that if he had saved her three years earlier, she would have liked him all the same?
