He looked indifferent, but he was actually studying her carefully.

She looked different.

She was wearing a white suit. It wasn’t branded, but the quality and the cut was good. It highlighted her cool vibe, making her seem…

..sharper than usual.

And that was what made him uneasy.

“What are you doing here?” Troy asked coldly.

Ayla definitely wasn’t going to tell the truth.

Halle was her friend. Slapping Skyla’s ego was done for her sake.

If someone else hurt Skyla, Troy would just coldly teach them a lesson and leave it at that.

But if she did it, Troy would be furious.

Because Troy couldn’t stand her disobeying him.

Once, when Martin was sick and she couldn’t reach Troy, she had to ask his secretary for his schedule. He got offended and didn’t come home for a month.

So if she “bullied” the woman he loved, he definitely wouldn’t tolerate it.

The punishment would be more than just Halle losing a few business deals.

That also showed just how badly Troy treated her.

He didn’t care about her family, her friends–anything about her.

Ayla thought about it and said flatly, “All you can do here is eat.”

Troy frowned, then relaxed again.

Ayla clenched her hand.

In Troy’s eyes, her only “function” was cooking.

Ayla said coldly, “I never liked cooking. It’s not a bad thing that I forgot.”

Troy heard the sarcasm in her voice

and his expression turned dark. “So?”

“So, I’m not cooking for you anymore.” Ayla met Troy’s eyes, her gaze cold. Then she turned and walked away, giving Troy an icy back.

In all the time Troy had known Ayla, he had only seen her nervously trying to please him.

She chose every word to keep him happy; she was always watching his mood.

He was clearly in a bad mood, yet Ayla wasn’t afraid–she was escalating the situation.

Troy frowned. Bria was right. Ayla had changed.

Just not in a way he liked.

If she wanted to win him over, she should’ve changed in ways that pleased him.

Stupid.

Troy always knew why Ayla was upset and staying away from home. He didn’t care. He wasn’t even curious why she’d turned cold.

Because the outcome would be the same–sooner or later, Ayla would come back.

Any extra thought was a waste of time.

Troy stopped thinking about her and went back to the private room.

After Skyla finished talking with Rolf, she suddenly thought of John.

Halle might’ve pissed her off, but LugiX was valuable. John worked there and could help her information.

The thought made Skyla smirk with contempt. She’d seen too many losers like John.

“Skyla, Halle fired me. I didn’t want to stay at that company anyway, so it’s fine. You came to see me so suddenly today, you’re probably still nearby, right? Want to grab lunch and catch up?”

Skyla frowned in disgust.

Him? Catch up with me? Over lunch?

Rolf saw her expression. “What’s wrong?”

“Spam,” Skyla said, then blocked John.

To avoid running into Troy, Ayla and Halle waited for a while after lunch, and left one after the other.

Since Halle had been drinking, Ayla was worried and offered to drive her home.

Halle said, “No need. My boyfriend’s picking me up.”

Ayla knew she had a fiancé.

Halle shrugged. “We’re just having fun. We agreed on the first day we started dating that we’d break up in six months, so I never told you about him. Let me check the calendar–we only have a few weeks left until the breakup.”

Ayla was baffled.

After thinking for a moment, Ayla asked, “What about you and Will?”

Halle looked at Ayla with surprise. “Are you trying to set us up?”

“Just curious.”

Halle clicked her tongue and satisfied Ayla’s curiosity. “We’re just friends. Nothing’s going on. If he’s into me and doesn’t mind a six–month relationship, I can give it a try. He’s cuter than whe he was a kid. I kinda like him.”
