Chapter 563 When the Tide Turns

Draven talked for a long time, and his breath brushed against the back of her ear throughout the conversation. His words were serious, but Ayla couldn’t handle it. It almost felt like he was flirting with her. The air felt thick and charged.
Winnie had already exposed Ayla to a significant amount of adult talk and ideas back on the island. Right now, she really couldn’t stay calm. Still, she said, “Okay. I’ll help you ask.”
Draven looked like he wanted to say more.
Ayla grabbed his hand. “Right now, I want to take a shower.”
The moment he heard that, Draven let go of her.
Ayla turned to look at him. She knew him too well. There was nothing dirty or bad in his eyes. When he held her and said those things, it was only because he was still upset about Jed.
Earlier, because their friends were around, he only said the problem was solved. Only in front of her would he show these emotions.
“Didn’t you promise to stay one night by the beach?” Ayla remembered what Blake said. Draven had flown back after two hours. He couldn’t even last for two hours?
“Once you leave, I can’t stay,” Draven said, gently touching her cheek.
“I thought you loved the ocean,” Ayla said.
“I do. But I love you more.” Draven only loved the sea because of Ayla. If he had to choose, he would always choose her.
He had tried to stay longer before, but he just couldn’t. If he had work to do, he could stay anywhere. But if it was just a vacation with nothing to do, it felt meaningless.
“When you’re gone, I get bored. Everything feels pointless,” he said while looking at her.
His intense, honest gaze made Ayla’s heart soften.
That was when the mood started to change. One look. One touch. Words only they understood. Even though they already knew each other well, something felt different when they looked into each other’s
eyes.
“Ayla, are you ready?” Draven asked.
The question was clear. They both understood.
Ayla was ready. She had been ready back on the island. They just didn’t have enough time then Now they did. Draven had already prepared her with his mouth and hands. After speaking with Winnie about what to expect, Ayla had no mental fear left. If anything, she felt a little eager.
“Let me shower first. I stink now.”

After getting her permission, Draven’s breathing deepened. One hand slid to her waist. Whenever he took the lead, Ayla completely lost control. With just a little pull, she crashed into his solid chest. His other hand held the back of hers as he lowered his head and kissed her.
The kiss was intense and deep. It stole the air from her lungs. Ayla had to press her hands against his chest to steady herself. He kept kissing her, strong and demanding, for several seconds before finally pulling away. They were both breathing hard.
Ayla kept her hands on his chest. “I said wait until I shower.”
The rage he carried was gone. The heat in his eyes made her nervous.
In a low, rough voice, he said, “I wanted to kiss you.”
Ayla looked away without thinking. Before she could fully turn, he caught her chin and turned her face back. He leaned down and kissed her lips lightly several times. Somehow, it felt even more intimate. “Shy already?” he teased. “We haven’t even started.”
Ayla’s face turned red. He was right. Nothing had even started, but the feeling coming off Draven was so different from usual. Back at the island villa, when he did that to her, had he been holding back the whole time?
Ayla suddenly felt like everything ahead was out of her control. Draven always made her feel things she didn’t expect.
Whether it was earlier tonight, when he said Jed deserved what happened, or right now, with the powerful presence coming off him… The uncertainty made her heart race. She looked at him. “You really said that out loud?”
Draven let out a deep sigh. “Ayla, you’re still so young.”
“I’m not that young. I’ll be 25 next year. I’m almost 30,” she said.
