Chapter 607 Strategic Marriage
Why should she be the only one suffering while that bastard stood there watching the show?

Ayla hated Troy, so she wanted to mess with his head and make him feel the same torment she was going through.
And that was nothing yet. Compared to the damage Troy had done to her, it barely counted.
She wanted him to serve her!
Her sudden mood swings and sharp words caught Troy off guard.
But he had finally fallen in love. For a man like him, loving someone was already rare. Once he did, he marked her as his. He never wanted to let go of her. That would feel like dying.
“Ayla, I know you want to torture me,” Troy said, his gaze heavy and dark. “No matter how you do it, I’ll take it.”
Ayla sneered. “Then get lost.”
Troy held back his anger and stared at her for a long moment. “Fine. I’ll listen.”
Before leaving, he asked, “When the babies are born, will you go with me?”
Ayla clenched her fist. Troy felt more and more like a creep. Was he trying to provoke her again? She tightened her grip and said flatly, “Get lost.”
Troy left with an extremely dark expression.
Ayla watched him go, exhaustion washing over her.
She didn’t even know if she would go.
Luckily, she still had two months to think.
A few days later, Ayla suddenly got a call from James.
“Ayla
… you guys are unbelievable. How could something this huge happen without anyone telling me?” He was clearly shocked, but he lowered his voice, not wanting to draw attention.
Ayla was in her office. She set her papers aside, lifted her coffee, and took a slow sip.
As long as she stayed busy outside, she could stay calm. Even Halle thought she had recovered.
But the moment Draven was involved, she was knocked right back to the start.
“You’re only finding out now?” she said lightly.
After the holidays, James had to temporarily give up to win back his girl and return to Zheron early due to

family business. Right now, he was attending a political–business event with his parents.
Kayla and Draven were there as well, along with several other families.
“Yeah, I just found out. Damn it, Ayla, you don’t treat me like a friend at all. Something this big, and you didn’t say a word. Draven didn’t tell me either!” James lifted his head and could see his sharply dressed friend not far away..
Draven stood there distant and refined, completely untouchable. At such an event, he drew everyone’s attention. His composure was flawless, his presence perfectly controlled.
Ayla explained, “It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you. I just … didn’t want to talk about it at that time.”
“Ayla, I really want to go keep you company.” If it were just a fling, fine. Breakups only hurt that much when the feelings were real. As always, he was fiercely loyal. “I’ll come see you in a couple of days!”
I’m a lot better now. You don’t have to make a special trip-”
Just then, a casual, teasing voice cut into the call. “Mr. Reagen, which hottie are you chatting with so seriously? Pause that chat. I’m seeing Draven for the first time today, and damn, he’s insanely handsome. The aura is unreal. Are we even the same age? I feel completely outmatched. Is Draven showing up here a sign he’s making a comeback? Feels like things are about to shake up.”
Then the tone suddenly shifted, catching Ayla completely off guard. “Oh, but I heard the Storms are planning a strategic marriage. Ms. Storm let something slip earlier. Big gossip. That’s the mysterious eldest son of the Storms. Who do you think he’ll choose?”
James’s face changed instantly. He wanted to punch the guy on the spot, but it was too late. He quickly said, “Ayla-”
“Beep… beep… beep…”
The call was cut off.
The words “strategic marriage” hit Ayla like a hammer.
Rationally, she knew Draven wouldn’t agree to a marriage like that. If he did, it would mean she’d misjudged him. Her judgment wasn’t always perfect, but she knew Draven was a good man.
But right now, she wasn’t rational. Once she loved someone, she became emotional. Anything involving Draven made her tense, anxious, and painfully aware.
Even if the chance of that marriage was close to zero, she couldn’t stop overthinking it.
Her mind was in chaos. She probably needed ten minutes before she could work again.
The next second, James called back.
If she answered, he would explain it was all a misunderstanding.
But Ayla didn’t feel like talking.
Her office had a small lounge with a bed and a shower. She walked to the mirror and looked at herself. A
