After a few seconds, the tightness in Ayla’s throat eased.

Draven hadn’t come alone. Herman was with him, along with his secretary. Halle and Lisa were there too, each bringing an assistant. The room suddenly felt crowded.

In a situation like this, even though Ayla’s emotions were unsettled, she still had to stay composed. It wasn’t just about being polite. Calmness was her armor.

Only when she stayed steady could her mind think clearly.

Ayla had always been proud. She didn’t want anyone to see her fragile side. After all, she had been the one who ended the relationship. If she showed pain or regret now, it would feel awkward–almost like she was putting on a show.

Since the twins were born, Ayla had come to understand herself more clearly. The sense of responsibility she felt toward her children was stronger than she had imagined. Most of her attention belonged to them.

And in many ways, the children had healed her.

When Ayla first decided to break up with Draven, she tried to see things from his perspective. If Draven suddenly ended up with two children from a woman he didn’t even like, Ayla knew she wouldn’t be able to accept it in his place. She believed in a simple rule: never place a burden on someone else that you wouldn’t accept yourself.

That meant she would have to deal with Troy often. The truth was simple–Draven would always end up being alone while she handled things related to the kids and Troy. Breaking up had been the best choice for everyone. After the separation, Ayla realized just how deeply she had loved Draven. But she never truly regretted her decision.

Maybe there were one or two moments when regret slipped in. During those times, she felt as if she had taken advantage of him to ask him to sacrifice so much for their life together.

But as time moved on, those feelings slowly faded. When the babies were born, even those thoughts gradually disappeared.
