Chapter 642 The Family Party

At the family gathering, no one dared show Ayla the slightest bit of disrespect. Everyone had noticed something strange. For some reason, both Troy and Bria had become openly supportive of Ayla. On top of that, Ayla was the mother of the twins. Martin had made it clear that Troy was not allowed to raise the children alone. Because of that, many tried their best to stay on Ayla’s good side. They treated her with great care and respect. And it was not just Ayla. Her aunt, her younger brother, and even her close friends all received warm and enthusiastic treatment from the family.

Of course, the party was mainly about meeting the babies.

Kaleb had met his niece and nephew before. But because he disliked Troy so much, he had only visited a few times during the past month. Today, he brought two very detailed collectible figures about the same size as the babies. After giving the gifts, he stayed beside the cribs and quietly played with the children. Kaleb had never liked social events anyway.

Bria stood nearby, looking annoyed. On one hand, she complained that Kaleb’s gift looked cheap. On the other hand, she kept warning him not to touch her niece and nephew.

Kaleb held back again and again. Finally, he shot her a cold look. Then, he took out his phone, recorded a short video of the babies, and left the nursery without saying a word.

Bria’s face darkened with anger. Kaleb always had that sour look when he saw her. Who did he think he was? Bria had given each of the twins shares in a small company she had invested in. The company still young, but its value was growing fast. In her eyes, that was a real gift. Kaleb, on the other hand, only brought a couple of figurines. Wasn’t that cheap? And yet he still acted so proud of himself. What he trying to prove? He stood there with that cool attitude, as if he were someone important. Honesty, be wasn’t anything special.

Back then, Bria had planned to tease Kaleb and make him follow her around like a loyal dog. Later, she discovered Ayla was her idol. After that, she stopped paying attention to Kaleb. Still, every time she sawe him, her anger would rise again. Kaleb was simply too irritating. Sometimes she even imagined home satisfying it would be if Kaleb suddenly humbled himself and flattered her.

Andrew disliked Kaleb just as much. In the past, a few of them had tried to confront Kaleb together Instead, they suffered severe beatings. Since then, Andrew had no intention of challenging him facein- face again. At one point, he had even thought about using his connections to have Kaleb arrested and send to jail. But things were different now. Their families were connected through marriage, so Andrew could no longer offend Kaleb.

It was a party meant for close relatives.

Kayla had come as well.

With her status and wide experience, most of the things people worried aboutlove, gradges, old conflicts -looked insignificant to her. In Kayla’s world, there were far more important matters that required her attention. Even her son did not rank very high on that list.

Eric was simply part of Kayla’s past, a memory from when she was younger and less mature. The only thing that made it a little different was that they had once been young together and had a child

In the end, Eric meant almost nothing in Kayla’s life. At most, he was just a faint memory of an old

romance. After she dealt with him back then and later saw how miserable his life had become, Kayla felt that the pain she had gone through was meaningful. To her, emotions were temporary. But Martin’s kindnew was real

Eric did not matter. Martin did. Kayla had come today because Martin had two greatgrandchildren.

She brought generous gifts for Floyd and Esme. Each of them received matching sets. One was a Victorianera writing set worthy of a museum collection. The other was a custommade amulet. Kayla prepared handmade silk baby capes and little jackets, woven with an extremely delicate traditional technique. Every inch of the fabric was precious. Each piece was a unique work of art. When Kayla gave gifts, they always reflected both luxury and craftsmanship. She moved easily through different social circles, and even the way she gave presents showed careful thought. For someone like her, giftgiving itself was almost a skill.

Kayla had come for Martin. She did not care whether Eric or Carmen was present.

When she went to the nursery to see the twins, Ayla happened to be there.

Cayla glanced at her, her eyes carrying a hint of a smile. From the first time they met, Kayla had felt a natural liking for Ayla. Seeing her again now, she still felt the same.

Cayla was strikingly beautiful in a refined, elegant way. She also carried a quiet authority that was hard to gnore. It almost felt as if a spotlight followed her wherever she went. In any crowded room, even if nu ome new who held the highest status, Kayla would naturally become the person everyone showed respect irstand no one would question it.

lyla noticed the gentle look in Kayla’s eyes. It almost felt as if invisible strings were pulling her, like a

upper. Before she could even think about it, her body had already reacted, and she gave the polite smile a Younger person should show an elder.

lyla had always believed Kayla disliked her. The sudden warmth made her uneasy. After all, someone at Kayla’s level could probably announce a person’s downfall while still smiling calmly.

But Ayla had already broken up with Draven. Kayla was probably happy about that. Compared to their first neeting, her friendlier attitude today almost made sense.

After watching the twins for a moment, Kayla left the nursery to look for Martin,
