But that doesn’t mean you owe him anything.” She paused briefly before continuing. “If anything, Draven should be thanking you. He once told me his life used to feel dark and lifeless, like still water that never moved. After you appeared, things finally started to change for him.” Kayla gave a faint shake of her head. “Draven is an uninteresting man. But because of you, his life suddenly became bright and warm. He gained far more from you than you ever gained from him.”

She looked at Ayla again. “Those who find something they want to protect–someone as important as you -should fight for it with all they have. If he didn’t fight hard enough and lost you, then that’s on him.” Kayla continued calmly. “You’re young, beautiful, and talented, and you know how to love someone. Of course many people would pursue you. And there’s also Troy, who is a real threat. Draven lost you because he didn’t guard what he had. He should have kept a closer eye on Troy.” A faint, cool smile appeared on her lips. “Troy had stolen you away with the children. Who can Draven blame?”

“Honestly, it’s a little embarrassing,” she said, then continued calmly. “Draven didn’t do enough. When he faced a rival, he lost. He couldn’t protect what he wanted. If a man doesn’t do his part, then a relationship is bound to fall apart sooner or later. Maybe if nothing had happened, the two of you could have gone on peacefully. But the moment trouble showed up, you both stepped back. You were the one who suggested breaking up, and Draven didn’t try to stop you. So the relationship ended. Actually, it’s a good thing you were the one who said it first. Otherwise Draven might have thought that once he had you, everything was secure and he could start taking it easy.” She gave Ayla a small, knowing smile. “And to be honest, this was only the beginning.”
