Chapter 739 Your Man Is Here
Ayla sat quietly, letting the heaviness wash over her.
The car continued driving toward the airport.
Fabiola turned off the signal blocker inside the car.
Ayla’s phone lit up with missed calls and unread messages. Some were from Bria.
Clearly, Bria was safe now.
The rest were from Draven.
Fabiola leaned over curiously, trying to peek at the screen.
Ayla quickly locked her phone.
“So stingy,” Fabiola said, pouting.
Ayla frowned. “Looking at other people’s phones is rude. You seriously don’t respect boundaries.”

“Fine, fine. You’re right,” Fabiola replied with a helpless smile. Then she added, still curious, “But your man is already catching up. He’ll be here in a few minutes.”
Fabiola clearly knew about Draven and still dared to take Ayla away, which meant she wasn’t worried about him catching up. Ayla hadn’t understood that earlier, but now she did.
Fabiola was being friendly and clearly trying to get closer to her. She believed she could win Ayla’s favor, so she didn’t care whether Draven showed up or not.
Ayla couldn’t help glancing at her.
Was Fabiola doing that just because it felt fresh and interesting, or did she have another goal?
If it were just for fun, then she should have approached Ayla much earlier.
If it was for some hidden purpose, that made no sense at all.
To outsiders, Fabiola was the only daughter of a wealthy family in Zheron. She had everything she could want. In every way, her life was better than Ayla’s. There shouldn’t be anything Ayla owned that Fabiola needed. After all, even the company Phil had handed her out of favoritism was one of the top entertainment companies in Drakoria.
Still, there was one thing Fabiola might care deeply about–Phil’s inheritance after his death.

But that didn’t matter to Ayla. Over the years, neither she nor Kaleb had ever asked Phil for anything, and he had never helped them either. They had managed fine on their own.
And with how distant their relationship already was, there was no way Ayla would pretend to be a loving daughter just to get her name into his will. She would rather die. If she told Kaleb that idea, he would probably cut ties with her immediately.
Phil’s wealth meant nothing to her.
If she had grown up with Phil and only later discovered he had another illegitimate daughter, then she probably would have fought for everything. She wouldn’t have accepted it easily, and that other daughter wouldn’t have had an easy life either.
In the end, different lives led people to make different choices.
Ayla guessed Juliana must have known long ago that Phil couldn’t be trusted. That was probably why she never moved the family to Zheron. Growing up, Ayla and Kaleb sometimes wished for a father’s love, but more than that, they learned how to depend on themselves.
In the
past few years, the thing Ayla hated Phil for most was learning about Fabiola’s existence.
She had felt hurt by the unfair treatment between them.
But as time passed, Ayla slowly let go. She had gone through too much since then, and now she had two adorable children. She had even less interest in wasting her feelings on Phil.
Her mother never talked about the past between her and Phil. Maybe in her mind, those weren’t things a child needed to worry about.
Now, after hearing some of the past from Fabiola, Ayla felt even more disappointed in Phil. From now on, except for his funeral, she probably would never see him again. In her heart, she had fully closed that chapter.
So there was nothing about Ayla worth plotting over.
The kindness Fabiola showed right now felt confusing.
Of course, Ayla wasn’t the type to warm up quickly. She wouldn’t suddenly grow close to Fabiola, so there was no need to worry about being fooled.
Still, everything Fabiola said carried the same meaning. She believed the problems between their
parents shouldn’t be passed down to them.
Ayla could accept that idea.
After all, she and Fabiola never grew up together. There were no dramatic fights, jealousy, or

competition between them. Their only conflict had been the stolen client. And based on Fabiola’s logic, if things turned out better later, then that small issue wouldn’t matter much
anymore.
Also, Fabiola had been very open with her, so Ayla didn’t feel as resistant as before.
If Fabiola wanted to treat her kindly, then fine.
As for whether she would accept her in the future, Ayla didn’t know yet, so she stopped thinking too much about it.
By the time she sorted everything out in her mind, the car suddenly stopped.
“That was quicker than I thought. Looks like your man really is worried about you,” Fabiola teased. “Go down and explain things to my future brother–in–law. And remember to introduce me properly.”
Ayla reminded her, “Stop calling him that.”
Fabiola replied, “Fine. I’ll call him that later.”
Ayla was speechless.
Even Halle didn’t tease her and Draven this much. Yet Fabiola was already calling him her future brother–in–law?
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing,” Fabiola said. “But I have one condition. You can’t leave with him. We agreed earlier, right? I’m the one taking you to the airport.”
Fabiola released her arm and returned to that calm, graceful image of hers. “Ayla, this is our first meeting. Let me treat you well.”
Ayla stared at her for a long moment. Without speaking, she moved to open the door, but Fabiola grabbed her arm again. The message was clear. If Ayla didn’t agree, Fabiola wasn’t
