Ayla really wanted to complain. Who went around with a face that handsome and striking, yet said he h low self–esteem? But insecurity was the best kind of “wedding gift” for a man. If anything, it only made h more appealing to her.

So Ayla rewarded Draven.

She cupped his jaw, rose onto her toes, and gently placed a kiss on his lips.

They had shared deep kisses before, the kind that left them breathless and weak, unable to pull apart. Bu none of those had felt as sweet as this one.

Because this was the first time Ayla had taken the initiative to kiss him after their breakup.

Something seemed to crash into Draven’s heart, leaving it burning hot.

“Do you feel more secure now?” Ayla asked with a smile.

Draven looked at the smile on her face. His gaze brushed over her fair, slender neck. He restrained the ur to leave a mark there. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he kept his voice steady and controlled. “I do.”

Before leaving, Ayla suddenly remembered something Bria had mentioned. “I heard you came clean abou a lot of things to your father and grandfather?”

Draven said, “Yeah.”

Ayla looked curious. “I know you’ve never liked talking about those things.”

Draven said, “A lot of bad things happened to me in the past. I was always afraid to tell you. But even if you knew, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. So I stopped caring. If saying a few things clearly could achieve wha I wanted, then I would do it. Eric has been a failure as a father. He feels guilty, so he keeps an eye on Troy. No matter how reckless Troy gets, he’ll still hold back a little.”

“Okay, I understand.” Ayla smiled and looked

into his eyes.

“I’m really leaving now.”

Draven lowered his head and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Go on.

“Okay.” Ayla nodded and turned to get into the car.

Ime when you get to Trensea.”

Before Fabiola’s bodyguard got in, he gave Draven a nod. When he looked up, he realized Draven’s expression had turned cold to an extreme.

The bodyguard was startled. He hadn’t been like that in front of Ayla at all. The switch in demeanor was almost shocking.

The car door closed, and the car drove off.

Only after the car was out of sight did Draven get into his own car.

After Ayla got into Fabiola’s car, Fabiola kept studying her. Nothing seemed obviously off, but she could still sense a faint irritation in the air.

Ayla said, “So you really are upset? Why?”

Her temper was surprisingly strong, completely at odds with her appearance.

Fabiola leaned her elbow on the table inside the car, resting her chin on her palm. She smiled lazily. “Ayla, before you got out of the car, you looked like a storm was about to break. You were clearly unhappy. But after seeing Draven, it was like the clouds cleared. Your mood got way too good.”

If Fabiola hadn’t pointed it out, Ayla wouldn’t have noticed.

But it was true.

She felt very relaxed now, with a faint sweetness lingering in her heart.

Draven had a strong influence on her, and it was all positive.

“So you’re unhappy just because I’m in a good mood?” Ayla asked.

Fabiola raised an eyebrow. “Are you concerned about how I feel?”

Fabiola was too self–absorbed. Ayla said, “Just curious.”

Fabiola said, “Yeah. I’m unhappy.”

Ayla said, “You can’t stand seeing me happy?”

Fabiola shook her head. “Looks like you think pretty badly of me. It’s not that I can’t stand you being happy.

I just don’t like that the person making you happy isn’t me. It’s Draven.”

Ayla fell silent.

She couldn’t understand Fabiola’s way of thinking at all.

“Ayla, do you think I could make you happy?” Fabiola looked at her.

Ayla said, “I just hope you can act a little more normal.”

Fabiola looked at Ayla and laughed softly a couple of times, then said nothing more.

There were plenty of flights back to Trensea. As soon as Ayla arrived at the airport, she was able to board.

But instead of leaving, Fabiola followed her onto the plane.

“I need to personally see you land safely in Trensea before I can relax.”

Ayla looked at Fabiola’s matter–of–fact expression.
