As for this side of Bria, Shirley only wanted to keep her distance.

When Bria came, she’d planned to deal with Shirley and vent her anger, but when she left, her mood was even worse.
It was so bad that it hit a whole new level.
She felt chaotic, disordered, and lost.
Bria sat in the driver’s seat, clutching her head, unable to figure out where things had gone
wrong.
All that happened was that Shirley found out what I really thought. I haven’t changed how I treat her at all, so why did she want to leave?
Isn’t anyone allowed to make a mistake?
And what mistake did I even make?
Haven’t I always been like this?
Bria rarely faced setbacks in life, especially not in relationships. If she didn’t like someone, she told them to get lost. She had never been this tangled up over something.
Shirley was supposed to be someone I could control easily, a harmless little rabbit. And yet somehow, I’ve ended up this irritated because of her!
Bria almost laughed out of anger.
Not just Shirley, but Kaleb too.
Bria tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
She could control Shirley easily, but not Kaleb. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have tried to mess with his emotions in the first place.
The anger in her chest kept building.
Bria needed to vent, so she called Andrew and told him to set something up.

An hour later, Bria was sitting in a massive, luxurious private room. The guests were minor celebrities and well–known influencers, all good–looking, outgoing, and great at keeping the mood lively.
Bria used to love scenes like this. Lively, hollow, drowned in indulgence. As long as it was fun, nothing else mattered.
But after several drinks, she didn’t feel any better. Instead, a dull ache started forming in her lower abdomen.
Her brows furrowed slightly.
Bria set her glass down. Just then, an influencer walked over with a drink to toast her.
She glanced at them. The influencer’s makeup was flawless, her tone exaggerated, calling her gorgeous over and over, like she was performing for a camera.
Seeing Bria’s expression, the influencer put on a concerned look. “Babe, are you feeling down? Tell me what’s wrong, I’ll keep you company.”
The soft tone and pitiful expression were perfectly crafted, designed to please.
But to Bria, it felt like talking to an AI. Like a programmed response, triggered automatically, all masks and flattery.
Unbidden, Shirley’s face appeared in her mind. Shirley remembered her cycle. Details Bria herself never paid attention to, Shirley kept in mind. Even when she was disappointed and upset, her instinct to care hadn’t changed.
Bria waved the influencer away. She didn’t feel like talking. If she opened her mouth now, she’d probably snap at someone. She’d come here to a familiar setting. She didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere so quickly.
With that comparison, she finally understood something.

She’d
addicted to playing along with Shirley. Even Andrew had joked she was acting strange, but she still enjoyed spending time with her.
There was no deeper reason. It was Shirley’s simplicity and sincerity. You could read everything she was thinking just by looking at her eyes.
Because of that, Bria could clearly tell that Shirley truly cared about her, truly liked her. When Bria was upset, Shirley would genuinely stay by her side.
Once you know what real sincerity feels like, everything fake becomes dull.
That was why she never wanted Shirley to see her true self. That was why Shirley’s look of

disappointment had cut so deeply.
The ugliest part of Bria was the part she was afraid Shirley would see.
Because she… didn’t want to lose that friendship.
She actually couldn’t bear to lose Shirley.
The moment that thought crossed her mind, a sharp ache spread through her chest.
Not only had she let Shirley see her true self, but she’d also lashed out in anger, making everything worse.
