Chapter 824 For Her

Anyway, the confession was just Bria’s guess. Thinking about it carefully, there wasn’t much evidence. If someone really liked her, how could they go two months without reaching out?
Of course, she’d disappeared for two months on purpose, to calm herself down. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to stop herself from doing something reckless. She still hadn’t given up on Kaleb.
Kaleb hadn’t come to confront her about ruining his birthday, hadn’t contacted her, hadn’t even asked around about her. He’d just focused on his own work and life… The more she thought about it, the more it felt like he didn’t care about her at all.
Bria’s mood instantly soured. She’d always been unpredictable, her emotions shifting in an instant. But now wasn’t the time to lose her temper. She forced it down. “Well? Say something. You have to tell me why you bought a woman’s ring out of nowhere. Don’t tell me it was for Ayla. She wouldn’t even want it, and my brother wouldn’t allow it either!”
With the way things stood between them, one step back and they were strangers who didn’t speak, one step forward and they were friends who had just patched things up. A lot of Bria’s questions crossed the line. He had no obligation to answer, and her tone was still as forceful and pressing as ever, not something everyone could tolerate.
Before, Kaleb absolutely wouldn’t have accepted it. But after everything, somehow, he’d gotten used to Bria’s domineering ways. It all felt exactly as he had expected.
If anything, if she didn’t question him like this, he’d start wondering if she even cared about what he was doing anymore.
Kaleb almost laughed. Two people with such similar temperaments, and yet they’d reached a point where they could tolerate each other like this.
He was also surprised that Bria hadn’t connected the ring to herself. “Did it never occur to you that it might have something to do with you?”
Bria froze. “What would it have to do with me? You never
told me you bought a ring…”
She stopped mid-sentence, something clicking. She stared at Kaleb, and from his eyes, she got her answer.
The shock that hit her was mixed with joy. First came disbelief, and then slowly, realization. That’s what it
was.
Even as she kept telling herself it couldn’t be true, when she questioned it again, there was excitement in her voice. Her current mood could be summed up in one sentence; she was over the moon.
This wasn’t the first time Kaleb had surprised her like this. He was the type who stayed quiet and cold, but when he did something, he did it in silence, only telling her after the fact. It always came out of nowhere. like an unexpected surprise.
Just like that, Valentine’s Day at the bar. Even though he’d panicked and run away, he still stayed outside. waiting until Andrew showed up before leaving.
That was care. That was protection.

He did things first, then said nothing.
If she didn’t ask, he probably never would.
Bria loved that about him. Back then, it was exactly his steadiness and reliability that had drawn her in.
And now it was happening again. How could she possibly resist?
Bria was practically glowing with happiness.
The kind of happiness where everything you wished for suddenly came true.
She’d been mentally preparing herself for a long, difficult chase, and then suddenly, everything opened up, like there were no obstacles at all. That alone was a huge surprise.
Bria had seen all kinds of things in her life, but after knowing Kaleb this long, he could still surprise her like this.
He looked so cold, so boring on the surface, and yet he was the most interesting person she’d ever met.
She was smiling so widely that her eyes nearly disappeared. Questions tumbled out one after another. “When did you buy it for me? Why didn’t you tell me? Was it yesterday? Did you secretly check my schedule and plan to surprise me?”
Kaleb was affected by her smile, his gaze deepening. She really was full of life, bright and outgoing, and that was one of the things that drew him to her.
