Ayla stopped when James called out.

She turned and saw Troy.

Ayla felt nothing now when she ran into him.

She came here because she made plans with James. She would not hide just because Troy showed up.

Her face stayed steady.

Draven said, “Want to keep going?”

Ayla hesitated.

His tone carried a bite. It sounded like a challenge thrown at her.

He was doing it on purpose.

He might not even care about coaching her. He only knew this would hit Troy where it hurt.

Their conflict ran deep and would never be fixed.

Ayla had not answered yet.

Troy walked over with a frozen expression and said, “You’re leaving with me.”

He refused to stand back and watch Ayla play tennis with the man he hated most.

James smacked a tennis ball toward Troy’s shoes. He said, “She’s here because I asked her. We’re playing for two hours. It hasn’t even been half an hour. If you need something, come back at five.”

Herman knew James far too well.

Herman did not even blink. He pushed his silver frames up and watched with interest.

A scene without James stirring things up never tasted right.

Will opened his mouth then closed it. He had no right to cut in unless Draven moved first.

He looked at Draven.

Draven stood still with a cold expression. He did not react at all.

That was normal.

Draven never cared about Ayla.

Troy knew James was Max’s cousin.

Max was annoying, and Draven was worse. Both of them were impossible.

Troy said, “She’s my wife. Why do you think this is your business?”

His voice was sharp. He couldn’t care less about James.

He stepped forward until he was standing directly in front of Ayla.

Ayla couldn’t look anywhere else when he blocked her entire view.

She stared right back at him.

Troy had some of Draven’s outline, but their features were not the same.

Troy’s eyes were narrower. His stare carried a mean, twisted edge.

Maybe it came from being compared to Draven since childhood and losing every time.

Standing next to Draven’s clean, bright looks, Troy always seemed darker.

He grabbed her wrist.

He said, “Come with me.”

Ayla did not pull away fast enough, and pain shot through her wrist.

She did not want to leave.

He spoke like he was asking about dinner plans. Only a thin thread of patience held him together.

Ayla looked at his hand gripping her wrist and met his cold eyes.

She said, “Sorry. I’m busy.”

James shouted, “You heard her, Mr. Winston. She’s busy. Stop dragging her around and go home.”

Troy ignored every word. He only stared at Ayla.

A slow, cold laugh slipped out of him.

He said, “You look very free to me.”

His tone was calm, but the cruelty underneath made Ayla’s skin rise.

Then he jerked her forward.

His grip tightened abruptly, turning rough.

James stepped into his path with a hard stare.

Troy snapped, “Move.”

James stood his ground. He said, “Troy, do you even know what respect means? She clearly doesn’t want to go. I’m giving you three seconds. Let her go.”

Troy never expected Ayla to have this kind of support.

James even stepped in for her.

Anger burned in his chest, but his face stayed blank.

His voice dripped with mockery. He said, “My wife is my problem. Since when do get to interfere? You’re not part of the family.”

He meant that nothing about the Winstons had anything to do with Draven.
