Chapter 876 Profound Sense of Peace
Halle froze. “What are you

James gave her a hard tug. The next second, Halle stumbled into his arms, and his hand locked around her waist. “I also want to hold you.”
His breath spilled over the side of her neck as he spoke. Halle’s heart went numb for a second. She turned to look at him, suddenly at a loss for words.
They stared at each other like that. As James watched her, his palm cupped the back of her head. He leaned in and kissed her.
When James saw that Halle didn’t resist, he kissed her deeply, his hand roaming slowly over her back.
The fabric of his pants was thin, and Halle noticed his reaction very quickly.
They drew apart a little. Halle’s lips were red from the kiss. She wiped the moisture at the corner of her mouth and looked at him. “So, first you hug me, then you kiss me. Aren’t you a little too good at rewarding yourself?”
“Just tell me whether you liked my kissing.
“If you didn’t, why didn’t you push me away?”
Before James had even finished speaking, he kissed her again and pressed Halle down onto the couch. He kissed her for a while longer before finally pulling back and murmuring, “I want to do something else, too.”
Halle, of course, didn’t let James do whatever he wanted. He was the kind of guy who’d take a mile if you gave him an inch, always looking to milk every opportunity for all it was worth.
Right now, she just wanted to rest properly.
After James left, Halle showered and lay in bed. Her phone was on silent, so she missed Edgar’s call-and naturally, she had no intention of calling or messaging him back.
She was hesitating because she couldn’t quite bear to let go.
That was completely different from being hurt and still clinging on.
No matter what Edgar did, Halle wouldn’t truly be harmed by him anymore. What she had wanted was the old days, and during these days back at the Bowman residence, she had indeed gotten a piece of them back.
But Edgar’s behavior had crossed the line. It ruined her mood and rapidly burned through the affection those old memories had built up.
So, Halle chose to leave.
She had actually been mentally prepared for this for a long time. Now that she really planned to cut the relationship off for good, she didn’t feel much reluctance or regret.

Chapter 826 Profound Sense of Peace
Instead, she felt a profound sense of peace.
Once everything from the past was settled, it was time to walk toward the future.
What Halle needed to consider was how to find a chance to expose Edgar and Nina.
The simplest way was to tell Tyler and Hayley directly.
Ellished
But it would be best for Edgar to tell his parents himself. Otherwise, he could shift the conflict and dump all his anger on her. In the past, Halle hadn’t believed Edgar would do something like that. Now, she was certain he absolutely would.
Because he had become extremely good at dodging responsibility.
Halle came up with a few options, but didn’t decide immediately Whether to act. Besides, she really was busy because she had a work trip coming up.
The next morning, at the Bowman residence.
Halle hadn’t come back to stay the night. Hayley had known that since last night. After midnight, Edgar came home, and she wanted to ask him what had happened, but Tyler held her back.
Breakfast was almost over by the time Edgar came downstairs. His face looked awful. One glance was enough to tell that last night hadn’t gone well.
Hayley was worried and wanted to ask what was going on.
Tyler nudged her with his hand, signaling her not to meddle.
Hayley thought that even if she couldn’t ask about their relationship, an ordinary conversation should still be fine. “Why are you up so late? Come eat breakfast.”
The words themselves were normal, and her tone was gentle. But Edgar was in a bad mood. To him, “Why are you up so late?” sounded like blame, like she was picking on him.
Edgar forced down the anger in his chest. “I’ll eat on the way to the office.”
“It won’t take more than a few minutes,” Hayley said.

Edgar said, “I said I’ll eat on the way. Mom, stop worrying about me.”
