Ever since Amelia accidentally discovered that photo album, Julian had been unable to sleep through the night. 

All night long, his mind replayed everything that had happened over the years. 

If, for the first decade or so, he had been chasing after Elizabeth, then in the three years since her marriage, he had been learning to let her go. 

From the moment she got married, he decided he would only see her as a sister from then on. 

As for Amelia, who had always been pursuing him, Julian initially regarded her only as a friend. 

Perhaps it was because they both suffered the same pain of unrequited love that he always felt a sense of guilt toward her. 

That guilt lingered for many years, until the two of them reunited three 

years ago.

In the end, he thought that if he married her, at least she wouldn’t have to suffer as much as he did. 

When he was young, Julian believed that fulfilling her wish would dissolve the despair of unrequited love. 

But back then, he didn’t know that getting what you don’t truly desire can sometimes be an even harder fate to accept than not getting what you want. 

And fulfilling someone else’s wish is not an easy thing to do. 

On one side was the abyss of pain from loss, on the other was the fortress of marriage he was about to enter. 

He shuttled back and forth between the two, feeling as if he was about to be split in half. 

After all, she was someone he had truly loved; even knowing there was no chance for them, he still wished her a smooth and happy life.
