To prevent Maeve from suffering any unprovoked torment inside, Andres decided to resolve the issue at its root.
That was what led to this meeting with Nancy at 1908.
"Whether she'd touch that stuff or not isn't decided by your empty words."
"When she was arrested, the evidence was conclusive. Once you're tainted with that kind of thing, getting out of it isn't so easy."
Nancy wore a look of blatant schadenfreude.
"She must be regretting that she didn't finish me off at your birthday party."
"Then again, even if she wanted to, she'd need the capability."
"My life isn't something just anyone can take."
"What I didn't expect was that you wouldn't mind committing felony murder for that lunatic, Maeve."
"Andres, if no one had stepped in to stop you that day, would you really have hacked me to death with that knife?"
Andres didn't hesitate for a single second.
"Scum don't deserve to live in the first place."
Nancy's expression contorted with malice.
"Since you have no regard for our past affection, don't blame me for being ruthless."
"You want to bail her out, right? I'll offer you a shortcut."
"As long as you publicly announce a marriage alliance with The Grover Family, she might just have a chance to regain her freedom."
Andres scoffed, infuriated.
"Even at this point, you're still fantasizing about our families marrying?"
Nancy raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"You are the excellent match Master Mortimer Finch personally selected for me, not to mention we once shared so many beautiful memories."
"Andres, I am a very forgiving person. I won't mind your past."
"As long as you make a clean break with Maeve and give us a grand, spectacular wedding."
"Before you threaten me, take a look at this."
"What is it?"
Nancy picked up the file and flipped through a few pages.
As the contents registered, her expression subtly changed.
"Worthy of the man I set my sights on. You actually came prepared."
The document detailed a massive pile-up caused by Luke Grover while street racing under the influence the previous summer.
The crash had resulted in three deaths and seven injuries, sparking a massive public outcry at the time.
But very quickly, the matter was hushed up.
To protect Luke, the Grover Group's legal team had maneuvered in the dark, finding a scapegoat to take the fall.
The Grover Family thought they had swept it cleanly under the rug, but Andres had provided footage explicitly capturing Luke committing the crime at the scene.
