Nancy was right. Andres wouldn't have shown up to this meeting without sufficient leverage.
"As long as Maeve remains perfectly safe, Luke Grover will remain perfectly safe."
"If a single hair on Maeve's head is harmed, your brother will be going down right alongside her."
Nancy looked at Andres with feigned heartbreak.
"Say what you will, Luke is still your future brother-in-law."
"As his brother-in-law, going after your own relative like this—aren't you afraid of becoming a laughingstock?"
Andres had finally, completely seen Nancy for what she was today.
"Your acting skills back then certainly lived up to the 'Goddess of Aethelburg' persona, but it's a pity that image is now shattered beyond repair."
"If you kept pretending, I might have at least been able to treat you like a human being."
"Since you can't even be bothered to pretend, don't blame me for looking at you like garbage."
Suddenly remembering something, Andres added,
"Back then, that little fox accessory hanging from your bag was just a prop you created to get close to me, wasn't it?"
So many things that hadn't made sense before were suddenly clear.
In his effort to find out who had cloned Lucifer, he had spent a lot of time trying to track down the owner of The Fox Avatar.
Because of that, the fox design had circulated among his social circle.
He didn't know how Nancy had caught wind of it.
The fox on her bag bore an eighty or ninety percent resemblance to the mystery person's avatar.
According to Naomi, the avatar was personally designed by Maeve.
Yet it had appeared as a charm on Nancy's handbag.
The motive behind that was certainly intriguing.
With her motives laid bare, Nancy offered a sickeningly sweet smile.
"No matter what my reasons were for getting close to you, it doesn't change one simple fact: I genuinely loved you from the bottom of my heart."
Out of all the prestigious nobility in Aethelburg, Andres was the only one who had caught her eye.
"Doing whatever it takes to achieve my goals has been my motto since I was a little girl."
Andres regretted it all over again—why hadn't he just hacked Nancy to death back then?
If he had known things would turn out like this, he never should have allowed her to remain breathing, only to become a menace to society.
"Mr. Andres, it's not that I don't want to help you this time, but the person in charge of this case was sent over directly by Faye's family."
The man Andres had sought out was Ivan Perez, Michael Perez's older brother and his sole contact at Red Gate.
Hearing that Silver Fox had been framed and jailed, Ivan was also scratching his head.
But the power behind Faye's family practically blotted out the sun.
Under these circumstances, Ivan couldn't just throw his weight around to pull strings for Maeve.
"Pull strings my ass. There is absolutely no way Maeve would touch that lethal garbage out in broad daylight."
Thinking of the fact that Maeve was pregnant, Andres wished he could trade places with her and endure the suffering himself.
What pained him even more was knowing that Maeve, locked up for a whole night, definitely hadn't slept.
