Divorce Failed! My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 960

Griffin's gaze turned somber.

"My time is running out."

Maeve instantly panicked.

She grabbed his wrist to check his pulse, but he firmly pushed her hand down.

"I was never supposed to exist in this era. My only mission was to make sure you two didn't miss each other this time around."

Andres caught the subtle clue in Griffin's words.

"Master, does this 'Slumber' have to do with the Serpent's Core?"

He didn't have his past memories, but his intellect was as sharp as ever.

From everything Griffin had said, Maeve's resurrection was entirely dependent on the Serpent's Core.

Having raised snakes for years, Andres knew their habits intimately.

Every winter, snakes entered a state of hibernation.

His instincts told him Griffin's "Slumber" was exactly that.

The realization hit Maeve like a freight train.

Now that she thought about it, Griffin always vanished during the winter.

"Is he right?"

Griffin gently ruffled his daughter's hair.

"Yes and no."

"Yes, because the Serpent's Core is the only reason I'm still alive today."

"It granted me immortality, but the side effect is that I am forced to hibernate for months every winter."

"No, because you aren't the only one defying the laws of nature by being alive. I am too."

"Once your children take their first breath, my time here is over."

That was the entire reason he had survived this long.

Maeve completely lost it.

"Over? Where are you going?"

Griffin offered a soft smile. "Where everyone goes eventually."

"If I have to choose between you and the babies, I choose you."

Griffin's tone turned stern. "If you don't give birth, you will die. And if you die, your children, your husband, and the sacrifice Charlie made for you will all mean absolutely nothing."

Maeve broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Did any of you ever ask what I wanted before making all these choices for me?"

"If my second chance means everyone I love has to bleed for it, I'd rather stay dead!"

For the first time in her life, she felt utterly crushed.

Only in front of her father could she let her walls down and cry like this.

Between the sleepless night and the heavy toll of the pregnancy, the sheer emotional exhaustion finally dragged her under. She fell fast asleep in his arms.

Gently tucking her into bed, Griffin motioned for Andres to follow him out of the room.

Standing in the hallway, Griffin got straight to the point.

"You need to brace yourself. The hypnosis is going to have unpredictable side effects."

"Since you and Charlie are two halves of the same soul, a magnetic field effect is inevitable. His memories are going to start merging with yours."
