The more Troy thought about it, the more his heart ached.
Children were sensitive. If they sensed that he was unhappy, they would be affected too.
So Troy handed the child over to the nanny and drove to the church alone.
When reality could no longer be changed, and hope seemed out of reach, people often turned to faith and fortune-telling for comfort, using it as a way to escape the pain they couldn't face.
On his seventh visit to the church, Troy had met a highly respected priest. The priest told him that he was someone blessed by fate. All he needed to do was wait, and his wish would come true.
Troy hadn't understood what that meant. The priest only smiled and said, "The time hasn't come yet."
But today, Ayla had accepted Draven's proposal. Even if that so-called opportunity still existed, there was no way he and Ayla could ever be together again.
That was why he was going back to the church. He needed answers.
Had it all been a lie? If he lost even this last shred of hope, what would he have left to live for? Troy didn't know. He couldn't see any future at all. So he had to find the priest.
Then the accident happened. Distracted by his emotions, Troy lost control of the car.
The church sat high in the mountains. His car smashed through the guardrail and plunged off the cliff.
This is it? Am I going to die?
The terrifying sensation of free-fall swallowed him whole. Most people would have felt unbearable fear. But at that moment, Troy felt relieved.
If I died, the pain would finally end.
Perhaps this was the opportunity the priest had spoken of.
Perhaps this is how my story ends.
Someone as terrible as me deserved nothing less than a miserable ending.
He didn't know how much time had passed, but the expected pain never came. Instead, someone was shaking him awake.
"Mr. Winston, we're home."
Troy frowned. His head throbbed violently. It was the familiar headache that came after drinking too much. And that voice... It belonged to Jed, his former assistant.
But Jed had been dismissed years ago after drugging Ayla. Why was he here?
Troy's voice was icy. "Shut up. Stop talking."
Jed looked confused. "Mr. Winston, Ms. Summer called. She got home safely."
Ms. Summer? Skyla Summer?
Only then did Troy realize something was wrong.
He immediately pulled out his phone and checked the date.
The moment he saw it, his entire body began to tremble.
Is this a hallucination?
Fear gripped him. Still, he forced himself to stay calm. It's okay. There's still time. Everything can still be fixed.
Then he saw her. Ayla sat quietly in the living room, her face pale and exhausted. The sight alone shattered him. He froze in place. His mind went blank. He didn't know what to do or how to face her.
Ayla's gaze slowly shifted to his neck. Pain flashed across her face. Then disgust.
Following her line of sight, Troy looked toward the mirror nearby. A bright lipstick mark stood out clearly on his neck.
His hand tightened into a fist.
It was from one of the ridiculous party games during Skyla's welcome celebration.
The strong smell of alcohol still clung to him. So did another woman's perfume. Without hesitation, he tore off his jacket.
Watching him, Ayla let out a mocking laugh. "You're finally back. I've been waiting for you."
Hearing her voice nearly broke him. At this point, there was still a trace of gentleness and reluctance in her tone.
She had endured unimaginable pain before finally deciding to divorce him. Ayla had truly loved him. Troy had never doubted that. He was simply the one who had lost her.
Suppressing the storm raging inside him, Troy walked toward her one slow step at a time.
His lips moved slightly. "Babe... why aren't you resting?"
Shock flashed across Ayla's pale face. Clearly, she hadn't expected him to call her that. But after a brief moment of surprise, she quickly regained her composure. "This is the divorce agreement. I've already signed it."
Troy bent down and picked up the document. His fingers trembled. It was the very divorce agreement he had given her on their wedding day. Even now, he couldn't understand what had possessed him back then. Why had he used something like this to humiliate the woman who loved him most?

The change in this story was way out there... Didn't like the ending at all. Team Draven! At least you finished it though....
I hope there's a second part or that the ending is changed. Troy doesn't deserve a chance at all. We're all Team Draven, and we won't give up on our hero, Draven. To hell with Troy and the crazy author!...
The story was very good, then the author suddenly went crazy and decided to give the demented Troy a chance! I will not read any of your works in the future, and I will not finish the novel. I am done with you and your nonsense....
