Big AAA game projects cost around a billion dollars. Kaleb put in 100 million dollars, Emmett 50 million dollars, and Emmett’s cousin another hundred million dollars.

With only that money, they still had to keep the company running and cover development costs. Life had always been tight.

Now they had to spend 15 million dollars at once and wait a whole month. If that guy were standing here, Kaleb would flick his cigarette at his face.

Emmett snorted. “That 15 million dollars was already after I bargained. He asked for 20 million dollars at first.”

Kaleb clenched his teeth, furious. He took another hard drag, and for the first time, a wave of hopelessness washed over him.

Since the day he started his company, he had never backed down. No matter how tough the challenge, he always pushed forward with everything he had.

Whether it was youthful pride or the need to prove himself, he simply refused to lose.

Now the technical problem was right in front of him. No money. No people. And Ayla, who only knew how to stir up trouble.

Kaleb really felt like he had the worst luck in the world.

Emmett tried to comfort him. “There’s no choice. Top engineers are rare. They charge high, but they can actually fix things.”

Then he remembered what Ayla said about investing more money. He tested the waters. “Why don’t we just spend the 15 million dollars now, and think about funding again later?”

Kaleb snapped. “No.”

“So we keep dragging it out like this?”

“We try to find someone cheaper.”

Emmett groaned. “I would love to. Where do you expect me to find one?”

Kaleb had no answer.

The two young founders looked at each other and both felt like losers hiding in a corner, smoking to calm their nerves.

Pathetic and unlucky.

At least Kaleb got to beat Zane yesterday. Otherwise he would feel even worse.

Emmett finally broke. “Kaleb, how about you tell Ayla to go apologize to Troy and smooth things over

Before he could finish, Kaleb kicked the chair Emmett was sitting on. Emmett slid back with the chair, and Kaleb’s cold, violent glare froze him in place.

“If you ever say something like that again, we’re done.”

Emmett’s throat locked up. He couldn’t speak.

“Did you hear me?”

“Got it. I won’t say it again.”

He had only dared to suggest it because he knew Ayla was rich. Staying at Storm Group was meaningless for her.

Seeing Kaleb still upset, Emmett quickly added, “I think of Ayla as my sister too. I hate Troy as much as you do. Don’t overthink. I’m on your side. You and Ayla both.”

Kaleb sneered. “Some sister. Her own brother stabs her in the back.”

“Kaleb, you think you’re some perfect brother? You treat her terribly

“At least I don’t stab her.”

“I already told you that wasn’t betrayal.”

“I don’t care. I heard it, so that’s what it is.”

“You’re impossible!”

Emmett stormed off to find Ayla, only to discover the entire tech department drinking latte and eating late-night snacks.

Company treats. Courtesy of Ayla.

“Who bought all this?” Emmett asked.

The team lead immediately answered. “Mr. Keaton’s sister!

“We thought she’d be just as hard to deal with as Mr. Keaton. Turns out she’s amazing. Calm. Generous.”

Someone joked, “With a brother like Mr. Keaton, if she didn’t have a good temper, she’d die young.”

Emmett nodded. “True.” He asked, “How’s it going?”

“No idea. She said she only needed one person helping her.”

“I don’t get it. Forget building a repair model. Even with a ready-made one, pulling and parsing the company’s data should take forever!”

Emmett sighed.
