Ayla felt a bit calmer with Draven’s steadying touch, but the plane jolted again. She froze, fear rooting her to the seat. Her voice trembled. “M-Mr. Storm, I’m really freaking out. Do you think it’s-”
Draven squeezed her hand, voice calm. “It won’t.”
“R-Really?”
Her panic was spreading fast. His calm didn’t help anymore.
“The company got you travel insurance. Even if something happens, you’d get a fat payout.”
Ayla twitched a little. “… Mr. Storm, if you don’t know how to comfort people, maybe don’t.”
She only dared speak like that when she was scared.
Draven didn’t answer directly. “Aren’t I here?”
“I know you’re great, but there’s nothing you can do on a plane.”
“I mean, if you die, I also die.” His tone went low. “You’re here for work. If something happens, I’ll pay with my life.”
Ayla was speechless.
That deadpan line wasn’t funny. She couldn’t even force a laugh.
Sounds like your last comfort,” she muttered.
At least she wouldn’t be alone if the worst happened.
“Relax. Nothing is gonna happen,” Draven said smoothly.
She had no clue why he was so confident, but now wasn’t the time to argue. She gritted her teeth and waited out the turbulence.
There wasn’t much Draven could do anyway. He was always unlucky at cards. If it were a gamble, he’d lose.
But Ayla was beside him.

Luck could flip.
Like that time she dealt him a winning hand and scored ten thousand dollars.
This time, they’d get through it as well.
As that thought crossed his mind, the bumps started to calm.
The flight attendants helped soothe the passengers. People cheered around the cabin.

Ayla’s tension melted a little. Her heart was still racing, but relief showed on her face. “Thank God! We’re safe!”
Draven slowly let go of her hand. He watched her smile for a moment, then looked away.
Ayla couldn’t help but think his calmness was unreal. He didn’t even seem afraid of dying.
“Mr. Storm, even if we wanted to die, we can’t,” she said, giddy.
“Don’t jinx it,” he replied.
She went quiet.
He was the one who started it.
Once the danger passed, she felt lightheaded. Even after landing, her head was foggy.
Luckily, the car was ready. She pushed through the nausea and made it to the hotel.
Her room was right next to Draven’s presidential suite.
It was way beyond anything her company would cover.
The company would only cover a standard room.
It had to be Draven’s doing. What a generous boss. Ayla thanked him before heading to her room and rushing to the bathroom to throw up.
Once she finished, the nausea finally settled.
Nothing was planned for tonight, so Ayla could just wander if she wanted.
Aqualith was a touristy place. She wanted to explore, but laziness was winning.
Next door, Draven had just sat down when Shawn Jackman, Aqualith’s famous heir, stopped by

“It’s been a while, Mr. Storm.”

His father was a notorious womanizer with countless children, but Shawn was the most competent and the chosen heir.
“I figured I’d welcome you myself since you just got here,” Shawn said. A five-foot-nine female model trailed behind him, dressed provocatively.
Draven said, “Have her wait outside.”
“Not fond of her, huh? We’ve had women around at parties before.”
Back in Moblosia, there were beach parties-bikinis all over, some even topless. Shawn could still remember the sea breeze. Draven had been there as well, yet he hadn’t said a word.
He didn’t get it. “I’m not sending her to your bed. Can’t she just hang out in the room like a painting?”
“No,” Draven replied.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
