James clicked his tongue twice. “Your Mr. Storm is all cold on the outside, but deep down, he really cares about you.”
“There you go again, talking nonsense.”
Ayla immediately realized she’d picked the wrong person to ask.
“Stop getting sidetracked. I just want to know, how do I get Draven to forgive me?”
James said, “How? That’s easy. Just kiss him. If once doesn’t work, kiss him twice. I guarantee he’ll stop being mad right away.”
Ayla was speechless.
Suddenly, Ayla found herself empathizing with Draven. James really was a master at speaking nonsense- no wonder even his cousin, Max, couldn’t stand him.
Ayla quietly hung up.
At this point, she didn’t dare cross Draven again. She decided she’d better just wait quietly for her divorce papers before talking to him again.
Since Ayla returned to Trensea on Saturday, by the next day, there was only one day left before Monday. She was beyond excited.
Halle had been away on business. On Sunday, she called to say there was a document at home and asked Ayla to grab the USB and send it over to her.
Halle lived in a stylish three-story townhouse. The place was decorated with a strong sense of taste-a classic city chic look. It looked like something from a lifestyle blog.
After Ayla sent the file, she got ready to leave. As she headed for her car, she unexpectedly ran into Troy and Skyla.,
A real estate manager was standing in front of them.
Ayla froze.
Are they buying a house together?
Halle’s townhouse was on Norton Road, right in the city center. The sycamore trees along the street were tall, and sunlight danced through the leaves, casting flickering light onto Troy’s face.
Standing at 6’2″, Troy had fair skin, broad shoulders, and a slim waist. After three years as CEO, he was used to giving orders, and he carried himself with a cool, commanding air.
It was the weekend. Troy wore a dark gray lightweight sweater and casual pants. From a distance, he

Maybe it was the gentle afternoon sun, but Troy’s usual coldness had faded. Standing next to the real estate manager, Troy actually seemed pretty easygoing for once.
Suddenly, Ayla’s mind filled with all the scenes she’d once imagined so many times.
Like having a child with Troy, the two of them walking hand-in-hand with their kid down the street, all three of them in matching outfits …
She pictured walking the child to preschool, then strolling with Troy, hands clasped, feeling each other’s warmth and chatting about anything and everything under the sun. Troy wasn’t talkative, but she figured she could fill the silence. She knew Troy would listen closely and keep his eyes on her the whole time.
When their kid grew up, Troy would be the kind of dad who cared about schoolwork and remembered favorite foods-maybe he’d bring a treat home after work.
When the child was grown and they were older, they’d travel the world together.
No matter how the world changed, Troy would always be by her side,
Those were the daydreams Ayla used to have, and though she hadn’t thought about them in ages, they came rushing back out of nowhere.
It must have been Troy’s expression as he listened intently-it was just like in her fantasies, the imagined he’d listen to her or their child.

Lost in thought, Ayla stared for four or five seconds.
Troy seemed to sense her gaze. He looked up and met her eyes instantly.
Whatever complicated, nostalgic feeling Ayla had in her gaze, Troy saw it all.
He froze.
But when he looked again, Ayla’s eyes were icy and distant.
Troy snapped out of it and gave her a look just as cold.
Ayla noticed that only a second ago he’d been looking at her with faint longing, but it all melted away in an instant, replaced by indifference and disregard.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
