Kaleb glared at Draven, trying to warn him off. He couldn’t believe Draven was speaking up for him.
He didn’t feel happy at all. His heart sank.
He had met people with countless tricks up their sleeves like Max, but Draven seemed way more dangerous.
Kaleb immediately looked at Ayla’s reaction.
As expected, Ayla looked terrified. “Mr. Storm, you don’t have to say that. Maybe Kaleb meant well, but his words were still too rude. He was wrong. I want him to apologize to you!”
Kaleb’s face stiffened, looking very displeased.
Draven really was on another level.
Draven’s attitude stayed the same. “It’s just a small matter. It’s not necessary.”
Ayla had just used Draven’s help earlier to scold Troy. Even though she felt justified, she still had a small sense of guilt. So she couldn’t stand watching Kaleb insult someone and not apologize. “Mr. Storm, I’ll have Kaleb-”
Draven looked past her at Kaleb, then back at her. His calm, focused gaze put pressure on Ayla, making her unable to continue.
Draven said, “I want to talk to Kaleb alone.”
Ayla’s heart tightened. With Kaleb’s personality, the only thing he knew how to do was curse people out.
She was just about to refuse for him when Kaleb suddenly said, “Sure.”
Ayla glared at Kaleb.
Kaleb had actually learned his lesson. “I’m the one who insulted him. I’m the one who should apologize. Ayla, don’t get involved.”
He just hated seeing Ayla act like she was flattering someone.
There was no one in this world worth her acting like that for!
Draven stood up. “To my study.”
Kaleb snapped, “Well, move it then!”
Both Draven and Ayla were speechless.
Draven pointed at the couch and looked at Ayla. “Wait for me here.”
Kaleb snorted. “Waiting for you? Who do you think you are? If she waits for anyone, she’s waiting for me”,

Ayla suddenly regretted her decision. She shouldn’t have brought Kaleb along!
Draven still didn’t get angry. “You’re right.”
Kaleb’s words were blocked again and he was so mad and frustrated from it.

When the study door closed, Kaleb dropped the act and immediately pointed at Draven’s nose. “You did that on purpose! You were putting a show for my sister to see, right?”
He was furious and completely blinded by anger. Draven was so two-faced!
Max was also somewhat like that, but Kaleb didn’t think much of it because Max was Troy’s friend and Ayla naturally pushed him away. That meant Max couldn’t pull any tricks.
But Draven was different.
Ayla respected him. She let her guard down around him. She even seemed to care about what he thought. If Draven acted like a good person, Ayla would believe he was good, And that would turn into good feelings, wouldn’t it?
Thinking about that, Kaleb couldn’t help feeling jealous.
Damn it!
Ayla cared about him because he was her only brother.
But Draven?
He was just her boss. Other than paying her salary, what other relationship could they have?
Yet Ayla cared enough to drag him here just to apologize.
The more Kaleb thought about it, the angrier he got.
He had to crush whatever intentions Draven have.
Draven had never been as openly emotional as Kaleb. Troy had verbally abused him since childhood, and Draven had heard it all too many times. Kaleb’s warnings had no effect on him.
But that didn’t mean he had a good temper. Not just anyone could point at his nose and scold him.
Kaleb only got away with it because of Ayla.
Draven sat down, lifted his eyes, and said, “Smart kid. You figured it out.”
He hid his feelings for Ayla very well. Besides Troy, whom he told himself, only Herman might have guessed, and even James wasn’t sure what he was thinking now. So, Kaleb was very sharp.
Kaleb snapped, “Then why were you pretending earlier?”
Draven said calmly, “I don’t bother pretending.”

Kaleb laughed in disbelief. “It’s just the two of us here. Be a man and say it straight. What exactly do you want from my sister?”
Draven didn’t answer. He asked instead, “Why are you so alert? So I’m not the only one trying to get close to your sister?”
Kaleb almost blurted out Max’s name. Luckily, he stopped himself quickly. He had already been led around by the nose at the door, so Kaleb had to focus to deal with Draven. “That’s none of your business. I just want to know what you want!”
Draven replied, “To be your brother-in-law.”
Kaleb’s face turned completely filled with anger. “Say that again, you jerk!”
Draven remained composed. “To be your brother-in-law.”
Kaleb had never met someone so shameless. “You and my sister aren’t even close! And yet, you want to be my brother-in-law? You’re trying to get take two steps at once!”
Draven was used to dealing with people like James. He felt no pressure facing an emotional young man like Kaleb. He calmly admitted, “You could say that.”
Kaleb was left speechless, completely frozen on the spot. Maybe he was too young. He had never encountered someone so shameless like Draven. Neither cursings nor warnings worked.
As a young man, Draven first thought was to fight him physically, but he also knew that Draven was taller and stronger than him. He couldn’t beat him either.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
