The coffee club was filled with a rich aroma of coffee beans. Troy liked this scent. It could calm him down.
He was frequently in a bad mood. In his 28 years, he’d rarely been happy. He’d long since given up pursuing happiness. He just wanted to keep himself calm. That was enough.
But Ayla had shattered his calm.
Troy hadn’t cared about Ayla before. No matter what happened to her or what she did, it couldn’t stir his emotions.
But now, one cold look from Ayla, one harsh word, could make him lose control to this extent. Troy absolutely hated it.
He’d actually given Ayla this much power? He could actually be affected by Ayla?
Troy clutched at his chest, letting out a heavy breath. The negative emotions seemed to dissipate. It still felt terrible, but at least he’d calmed down.
He sat quietly for a moment, then called Skyla, asking her in a very calm tone to meet him.
Half an hour later, they met at a private business club.
It was rare to have a one-on-one date. Skyla was quite surprised, because she could sense the subtle changes in Troy after the divorce. For instance, his attention used to be completely on her. Now his attention was much more scattered.
But it didn’t matter. She was the only one who could get this close to Troy.
Skyla walked into the private room.
Troy was sitting on the couch. The first thing she saw was the man’s cold, stern profile.
He was very handsome and carried an air of refinement. Even just his silhouette was striking and incredibly attractive.
However, his entire being seemed shrouded in a gloomy aura that made him difficult to approach.
Skyla stopped where she was.
Troy heard her and turned to look.
The man’s face had been cold, but when he saw her, it softened.
Skyla really liked how Troy treated her differently and the influence she had on him, because it showed she was important.
“Troy, why did you suddenly call me here?”
She sat down beside Troy. They were very close, but she still didn’t dare to lean directly against him,

because normally they’d only occasionally hold hands briefly. There was no more intimate contact than
that.
Their only time crossing that boundary in the past had been when they were playing Truth or Dare with friends.
Troy had held her and kissed her.
The Truth or Dare penalty was actually supposed to be a French kiss. Troy had only kissed her cheek, but everyone loved to exaggerate. The story got passed around and became a solid three minutes of French kissing.
But Skyla didn’t care how close they actually were.
Troy’s personality made it difficult for him to be close to people. The fact that he was willing to spend time with her was already his way of showing he cared deeply about someone.
What’s more, he put a lot of thought into her.
Skyla was absolutely certain she was the most special woman in Troy’s heart. No one could compare.
Troy looked at her. “Kaleb’s company troubles have already been resolved.”
Skyla hadn’t imagined he’d bring this up.
She froze, shock hitting her hard.
Seeing her reaction, Troy knew she was unaware. He didn’t want to test anything. He just wanted someone to talk to. Skyla was a suitable choice.
Skyla quickly recovered and asked, “Really? When did this happen?
Troy said, “A week ago.”
At that moment, Skyla’s phone rang. It was a call from Zane.
Having just learned bad news from Troy, her instinct told her this couldn’t be good either. She hung up.
The next second.
The ringtone started ringing frantically again.
Troy asked, “Who is it?”
“Zane.”
Troy didn’t care about Zane. He said, “Answer it then.”
Skyla was worried about hearing bad news and losing her composure in front of Troy, so she left the private room to take the call.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
