Howard looked at Ayla with surprise. “So you went to Agron University too.” He smiled. “Halle, how come you never brought such a pretty friend out with you?”

Halle said, “She was a top student. She never had time to play.”

Howard laughed. “I like top students.”

It was just polite small talk, and he was the sweet-talking type. Ayla chatted with him a little, then they all went their own ways.

Once he left, Halle leaned close to Ayla’s ear and whispered, “Back then, I liked his face. We had drinks once, but he already liked someone else. So we turned into drinking buddies.
