The moment Howard saw Skyla, a memory appeared into his head. He remembered her giving a speech at their university as a top alum.
He normally hated events like that. Back then, his roommate dragged him along because Skyla was the prettiest girl in their department.
Howard had seen plenty of beautiful girls, but he had to admit Skyla really stood out that day. She had a calm aura and a pretty face. She was charming. But after that day, he forgot about her right away.
Later on, after he met Halle, he visited the School of Computer Science. That was when he happened to see Skyla’s picture on the Honor Wall again.
The girl really was an outstanding senior.
Other than that, he had no special impression of her.
Normally, he would have forgotten someone like Skyla easily. But for some reason, he’s remembered her for years.
Howard liked relationships that were simple and free of benefits or money. Most of his friends didn’t even know about his background. But because of his looks and charm, lots of people chased him-and many became annoying when he refused them.
He got so tired of it that he started lying, saying he already had a secret crush.
Some people kept asking who she was.
At that moment, the first person who came to mind was Skyla. So he made up details about this “secret crush” using her traits-older than him, calm, elegant, and a science/genius.
Later, Howard figured out the truth. The reason he thought of Skyla was that she was exactly his type.
Thinking about this, he suddenly remembered Ayla, whom he had only seen once. She was stunning too, with cold, distant eyes and a straight nose. She had that same icy, science-girl vibe.
Howard liked that kind of distance.
People who seemed cold made him want to break past their walls. He couldn’t help wanting to see what was underneath the frost.
Skyla looked surprised when she heard him say her name. “You know me?”
Howard smiled. “I listened to your speech back at school. It left a deep impression on me. After all these years, you still look amazing.”
He was handsome and charming, and his smooth words took Skyla by surprise.
Helena-who was powerful in both politics and business-was already hard to approach. Skyla didn’t expect Howard to come from the same university as her.

And the fact that he remembered her from one event that happened years ago…
Howard must admire her.

Skyla pushed down the satisfaction rising in her heart and found a seat. Since they were alumni, it was easy to start talking.
Howard worked in finance. Recently, every investor wanted to squeeze into the tech industry. Since Skyla worked in that field, he was curious about what she was working on now.
She shared that her team had just solved a major problem in their project.
But now they were stuck on a different challenge, though they were close to breaking through.
Howard asked, curious, “Since you’re in tech, do you know about hacking?”
Skyla replied, “I know a bit.”
Howard shook his head. “You’re being too humble. You definitely know more than ‘a bit.”
He wasn’t just flattering her. From their conversation, it was clear she was top-tier in her field.
Howard actually had a reason for coming back to the country. He needed a top hacker.
He and a friend had started a company abroad. It was doing well-too well. A giant corporation saw them as a threat and used dirty tricks to ruin them. The company collapsed in the end.
Howard had always worked outside the Saffrons’ influence. He never asked them for help.
But he couldn’t swallow this loss. He needed a hacker to get revenge—a truly powerful one.
He heard that someone in Aqualith had hacked into the entertainment industry’s network and exposed a director’s scandal. But that incident involved several major families. Howard hated being dragged into political games, so he gave up on that lead.
Skyla said, “I guess I’m okay.”
Howard took out his phone. “I’ve been really curious about hacking. Can we exchange contact info? I might need to ask you for help someday. I hope you won’t turn me down.”
Skyla nodded. “Of course.”
Howard valued her because of her skills. Once again, Skyla felt that in this era, a woman needed strength
to be noticed.
After they exchanged contact info, Howard glanced at Troy-and noticed Troy wasn’t in a good mood.
“Troy, are you upset about something?”
He answered calmly, “I’m always like this.”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
