Even so, Emmett still acted like the host for the night. He went on to explain why they were having dinner and even pulled Kaleb up with him to thank Draven.

Kaleb brushed it off and sat down right away. He knew Draven’s intentions weren’t simple at all, so he hated watching the man pretend to be nice.

Thankfully, Ayla felt nothing toward Draven.

As long as she wasn’t interested, Draven wouldn’t get what he wanted so easily.

Men never treasure something they get quickly. Honestly, it would be better if Draven had to chase her for a few more years.

In another private room, Howard was there just for a business dinner. He didn’t hate it, but he wasn’t loving it either. He actually had an important matter to settle during this trip back to the country, so normally he would’ve turned down the invite. But since it came from Troy, Howard had no choice but to

come.

Winston Group and the Saffrons had been close for generations, so Helena had reminded him to show up. Fortunately, he did.

Howard pushed the door open. There were two people inside-Troy, and another man he didn’t know. His eyes however instantly landed on Troy. He looked even more mature than before, after years apart.

Howard walked over with a bright smile. “Troy, long time no see.”

His voice was easygoing, the kind that made people relax right away. You could feel the freedom in his

energy.

Troy knew Howard loved traveling the world and chasing adventure. If his family hadn’t dragged him back, he’d probably still be in some rainforest hanging out with a local tribe.

Troy stood up and patted his shoulder. “Yeah, it’s been a while.”,

Howard pulled out a chair beside Troy and sat down. “I’ve been overseas studying for a long time. Figured it’s time I come back for a bit.”

“What’s your plan?” Troy asked.

Howard shrugged. “You know I can’t stay put. I don’t want to get involved with the family business. Now that I’m back, I probably won’t leave anytime soon. For now, no real plan. I’ll just work for a few years in finance like a regular guy.”

Most rich kids went home to inherit the family business. Howard was the exception. With how well Troy knew him, nothing Howard did could truly surprise him.

“If you need help, just ask me,” Troy said.

“Troy,” Howard blinked, grinning, “trust me, I won’t hold back.”

Troy was a few years older than him, but their relationship had always been close. Maybe younger kids liked following the older ones around. Howard had admired him since they were small, treating him like a real brother from the bottom of his heart.

Then he introduced the other man.

“This is Rolf, son of the richest man in Trensea.”

Rolf already knew who Howard was, but this was their first time meeting.

Howard and Helena didn’t share the same mother and they were 11 years apart, but they had a great relationship.

Howard was a really low-key person. He rarely showed up at social events. When he was in school, nobody knew he was the heir of a top-tier family.

Howard looked around and asked, “Where’s Max? Haven’t

. Cen him”

Usually, if Troy was around, Max was too. Howard and Max got along well.

Troy replied, “He went with James to go look at a house.”

Well

Max and James couldn’t stand each other, so he probably got forced to go along by his mom.

Because of that, Troy’s thoughts drifted to James.

He remembered how James stood up for Ayla at the tennis court. Back then, Draven didn’t care at all. Only James worried that Ayla would get bullied.

Ridiculous. Ayla was my wife. What did that have to do with him?

Troy frowned slightly at the thought.

He and Ayla had been officially divorced for a week now. He had already accepted it. But when he thought back to how emotional and out of control he was during the two days after the divorce, it made no sense to him anymore.

Even if he couldn’t stand seeing Draven with Ayla, his reaction shouldn’t have been that intense. He had acted like a madman.

Good thing Troy felt nothing now. Still, he kept finding himself getting reminded of Ayla because of random things.

And that annoyed him deeply.

She was his ex-wife now. She was in his past. He hadn’t bothered putting effort into the marriage, so he shouldn’t waste energy on her after the divorce. Otherwise, he’d only be proving Ayla right-proving he was being pathetic.
