Draven was determined to teach Troy a lesson. His grip on Troy’s arm was like iron, twisting it painfully behind his back while he drove a knee into Troy’s spine.
Troy crashed onto the couch. Draven bound one of Troy’s wrists, yanked the other arm behind him, and cinched it tight.
During the struggle, Troy thrashed violently, knocking into the coffee table with a loud crash.
Laura, who had been hiding in a room, couldn’t stay back any longer. Worried and frightened, she rushed out, assuming Troy and Ayla were fighting.
But then, she noticed another man.
She already feared Troy’s presence, but the man restraining Troy had an even stronger, more intimidating
aura.
Laura froze, unable to take a single step.
Draven didn’t plan on letting Troy slip away. He grabbed a mug nearby and smashed it against Troy’s head.
Troy nearly blacked out.
Draven tightened the belt over Troy’s arms, locking him in place. Then, he slammed Troy back onto the couch, pressing a heavy hand to his neck.
Gasping for air, Troy tried to speak. “Drav-”
He didn’t even finish the name before Draven slapped him across the face.
The slap was brutal. Troy’s head jerked sideways, ears ringing, stars flashing in his vision. The mug blow made the dizziness even worse.
Blinking hard to stay conscious, Troy scowled.
Then he sneered in disbelief. He’d never been that humiliated, and to be beaten by Draven in front of Ayla made it unbearable. He wished Draven would drop dead on the spot.
He turned with a feral glare, like a rabid wolf. “Draven, what right do you have to get involved with us?”
Draven looked down. “Because I’m your brother.”
Troy froze. A dozen insults were ready on his tongue, but he couldn’t speak. He never expected Draven would use their blood relation to shut him up. It was absurd. Where did that bastard get the nerve to say that?
Troy trembled with rage.

Draven was so disgusted that he didn’t want to waste words. Once he finished with Troy, he glanced at the shelf. His gaze fell on a mug with the initials M.L.
Then he looked at Ayla.
Danger still lingered in his eyes. Her heart skipped. She didn’t explain anything. She walked over, grabbed the pine-patterned mug, and smashed it on the floor. It split neatly in two.
The crash rang sharply. Troy’s pupils shrank, something snapping inside him. He struggled wildly, but the belt only dug into his wrists. His fight was useless.
Draven looked at the broken mug pieces, then walked out silently, leaving a chill behind.
After he left, Ayla obviously wasn’t staying.
Troy stared at her, hoping she’d glance back and stay.
She hadn’t held back when she hit Bria. Now that Troy was someone she despised, she had even less reason to show mercy.
Before leaving, Ayla shot Troy one last look.
Physically, she stood no chance. Her only weapon was words, sharp but harmless. Luckily, Draven stepped in. A man’s strength was obvious, and Troy finally felt the consequences.
The rage in his eyes didn’t faze her. She walked away without looking back.
Ayla stepped into the courtyard and noticed Bria hiding at a distance.
Bria knew the villa’s passcode.
She wasn’t scared of anyone-except Draven. She had terrible luck running into him and probably had been the one to let him in.
Seeing Ayla, Bria hurried over.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
