When the elevator doors closed, Ayla thought about sending Draven a message. She was worried that Kayla might show up while he was away on his business trip.

But then she thought about it again. Kayla hadn’t arrived yet and didn’t even know who she was. So Ayla decided not to send the message. Just then, Sacha grabbed her arm. “Ayla, are you really quitting? Are you really leaving us?” Sacha asked.

Sacha was the best at acting cute. Ayla actually liked her a lot. “We’ll still see each other,” Ayla said gently. “And I still have some time before I leave. Isn’t it better to prepare ahead of time?”

Sacha still didn’t want Ayla to go. She kept clinging to her for a long time. Ayla coaxed her for a while, too. In the end, they both went back to work as usual.

Troy looked at the unexpected visitor, Max, with surprise. His expression stayed calm but cold. “I didn’t ask you to come,” Troy said.

“What did I do to offend you? Why do you dislike me so much?” Max raised an eyebrow.

“I don’t dislike you,” Troy replied. What he really hated was how interested Max seemed in Ayla. Even though Troy knew Max was just curious, it still made him uncomfortable.

“I’m here to help you. What bad intentions could I have?” Max said.

Max and Troy had known each other for too long. They could almost read each other’s thoughts.

Troy probably sensed what Max was thinking as well.

But Troy would never imagine that Max might be interested in his ex-wife.

Since Max already knew how Draven felt about Ayla, the best plan was to let Draven and Troy fight each other. That way, Max could create a small opening for himself.

On the other hand, Troy was Max’s good friend. After Max had been tricked by Draven, Troy wouldn’t hesitate to help him.

“So you’re really keeping your eyes on Herman?” Max asked,

Troy sneered. “I’ll dig slowly. I’ll find evidence sooner or later.”

Troy’s main goal was to deal with the Winston Group issue. The loss wasn’t huge, but the situation was complicated and took time to clean up.

Now that things were mostly settled, he could head back soon. As for finding evidence against Draven— even if he found some, it might not really hurt Draven. So it wasn’t very meaningful.

Still, Troy couldn’t swallow his anger. Draven had set him up, and Troy was furious about it. He wanted to report Draven to Martin. At least Martin should know that Draven was no better than he was.

Max picked up some files from Troy’s desk and flipped through them. “Edgar is really useless,” Max said. “He can’t even handle something this small.”

Edgar was capable, but in Max’s eyes, he wasn’t impressive.

Troy frowned and said coldly, “He has kids.”

“Alright,” Max said, momentarily speechless.

Edgar wasn’t that useless. Draven’s methods were hard for most people to deal with.

Max continued, “You keep an eye on Herman. I’ll have my people investigate, too. Since I came all this way, I should help.”

Troy neither agreed nor refused.

Max then noticed a shopping bag beside the desk and opened it out of curiosity.

Inside was a bracelet.

Max knew Skyla liked things like this. Without thinking, he knew Troy bought it for her. He frowned slightly, feeling annoyed.

Since Troy’s attitude toward Ayla had changed-and he even seemed to want her back-he should be treating Ayla well. Yet he was still buying gifts for Skyla.

Max pretended not to know. “Who’s that for?”

Troy only noticed it then. He looked at the bracelet and remembered.

“I had my secretary buy it.”

“For who?” Max asked.

“Skyla,” Troy replied, sounding a bit annoyed.

“You only bought one?” Max said. “That’s cold. What about Bria? No wonder she keeps fighting with you. If you were fairer, wouldn’t everything be fine?”

“You change girlfriends all the time. Of course, you know these tricks,” Troy said.

“Don’t slander me. I’ve been single for a long time,” Max denied it.

He wanted to ask if Troy had bought anything for Ayla. But if he asked, Troy would definitely become suspicious.

Max didn’t come here to make Troy doubt him, so he stayed quiet.

Just then, Isabella walked in. She glanced at Max and then at Troy. Troy signaled her to speak. “Mr. Winston, this is about Ayla…”
