Chapter 464 Lay Low

Fabiola pressed her lips together tightly.

She’d heard the warning in Herman’s words.

So, Herman valued Ayla that much? That didn’t line up with what Melody had been saying at all.

Melody didn’t want to leave. She struggled wildly.

Fabiola glanced at Herman’s expression, then suddenly spoke up. “Melody, listen to your brother for now. Go back first. I’ll contact you later.”

Melody wanted Fabiola to talk Herman out of it—but Herman was practically ruthless. He was far harsher than usual, nothing like how he’d treated her before. That sudden severity scared her a little.

If even she felt intimidated, then Fabiola stood no chance.

Fabiola’s soft temperament simply couldn’t handle direct confrontation.

Melody was furious, but in the end, she had no choice but to give in. There was no way she could resist the pressure coming from her older brother.

Herman followed her the whole way.

Only after personally watching Melody board the plane did he finally leave.

But before the plane took off, someone came in and escorted Melody away.

At first, Melody thought Herman had changed his mind.

Then, she realized she didn’t recognize the people taking her.

She asked who they were. No one answered. Terrified, she thought she’d run into criminals. Just as she was about to scream, a familiar voice called out. “Melody, it’s me.” It was Fabiola’s

voice.

Seeing Fabiola appear out of nowhere at the airport felt like magic. Melody froze for a second, then instantly relaxed and threw her arms around her. “Fabiola, you’re amazing! You actually have people you can mobilize here in Trensea? That was fast-your execution is insane. You’re even more impressive than my brother!”

Fabiola smiled modestly. “I couldn’t bear to see you leave.”

“He’ll find out sooner or later!”

“It’s fine. I can fake your return to Zheron and report back to your brother so he won’t worry.”

At that moment, Fabiola seemed capable of anything in Melody’s eyes. All Melody could do was gush, “Fabiola, you’re really too good to me.”

Fabiola added gently, “But we can’t touch Ayla for now.”

Just hearing the name made Melody grit her teeth. “Ayla. Keaton.”

Fabiola soothed her. “Alright, calm down. Let’s lie low for a bit. I’ve already told Polly to stay put. For the next few days, we’ll behave-stay in Trensea, do nothing. Even if your brother realizes you didn’t actually go back, as long as we don’t stir trouble, he won’t interfere too much. So relax.”

Melody really didn’t want to go back anyway, so she had no choice but to listen. Still, the thought of Herman made her seethe. “Why does he care so much about Ayla? Whatever Ayla says, he listens. Damn it-why does he give her face?”

Fabiola tilted her head, curious. “Does your brother like Ayla?”

“No way,” Melody snapped.

If Herman liked Ayla, she wouldn’t even see her as an enemy. Things wouldn’t have escalated this far. Who knew Ayla was this ambitious-always hovering around the men Melody liked.

At this point, Melody truly hated Ayla. Even if Ayla really did have something going on with Herman, Melody would never acknowledge her as a sister-in-law. Just thinking about it made her sick.

Fabiola, however, frowned slightly.

She might have underestimated Ayla.

The fact that Herman listened to her so closely felt very wrong.

Underestimating an opponent was dangerous. Ayla had too many things worth digging into.

Her dear little sister-would she surprise her?

Lost in thought, Melody suddenly noticed the strange look on Fabiola’s face. She froze. That expression felt unfamiliar … even unsettling. The contrast was sharp.

“Fabiola, what are you thinking about?”

“Thinking about some people who deserve to die.”

Fabiola smiled gently. “Never mind. They’re not worth thinking about.”

Melody laughed it off. “I knew it-you looked terrifying just now. I almost stepped back.”

“Really?” Fabiola chuckled. “Me? Scary?”

“Haha, must’ve been my imagination. You look like the easiest person to bully. You need someone protecting you all the time.”

Melody said brightly, “Let’s go rest at your big villa. I’m not leaving anyway.”

After Herman and Will left, Hannah stayed a little longer.

She was there mainly to get to know Draven and exchange a few words. He really was cold by nature, but not arrogant. He treated her with impeccable courtesy-so much so that it almost felt excessive.

Hannah quickly caught the underlying meaning.

Being polite to her was, indirectly, a way of telling her to take good care of Ayla.

As the “family side,” Hannah grew more and more satisfied.

“Alright, alright. I still have kids waiting at home. Ayla had a bit of a rough night today. Mr. Storm, please take good care of Ayla. Otherwise, if she shows up at the office in a bad mood tomorrow, we employees will suffer, too.”

She said it jokingly, but every word was in Ayla’s favor.

Ayla understood perfectly. She personally walked Hannah out and said sincerely, “Thank you for earlier, Hannah.”

Hannah waved her off. “It’s nothing. I’m relieved now. Otherwise, I’d be worrying about you all night.”

Ayla waited until Hannah disappeared from sight before closing the door.

Draven was still seated.
