Chapter 57 A Low-level Secretary
Troy snorted, clearly amused by Laura’s guess. “Don’t bother me while I’m eating.”
Seeing his cold expression, Laura didn’t say anything else and quickly walked away.
Honestly, she probably guessed wrong.
Ayla was always cold, even to her. She only warmed up and showed her gentle side around Troy.
When Troy wasn’t there, Ayla stayed indifferent, especially with those cold eyes of hers. Laura remembered them too well. Just a glance from Ayla used to make her shut up. Ayla was hard to approach.
Not like Skyla, who came home with Troy the other day.
Skyla came from a rich family. She had that rich girl pride, but she was friendly. The first time they met, she even gave Laura a fancy skincare set worth thousands.
Laura instantly liked her and even hoped she’d marry Troy.
So yeah, it made sense why Mr. Winston doesn’t love Ayla. She’s not an easy person to get along with!
Still… Laura kind of missed Ayla.
When Ayla was home, Laura could slack off a lot. Now, doing everything alone, she was busy all day, and her back was killing her.
Ayla had prepared a first aid kit for her, with patches for back pain.
But that was small stuff. Even if Ayla hadn’t provided them, Laura would have bought them herself. She still preferred that expensive skincare set.
Ms. Summer knows how to treat people.
Ayla doesn’t!
After dinner, Troy hit the gym, showered, and went to his study. That’s when he got a call from Jed.
“Mr. Winston, Draven is indeed the CEO of Storm Group.”
Troy had heard the rumor and only asked Jed to check-didn’t expect it to be true.

Storm Group was founded five years ago, and in that short time, it had already surpassed the Winston Group. Before, everyone guessed the real power behind it was a wealthy financial group with deep connections in Zheron.
Draven is indeed from Zheron!
Troy’s expression darkened instantly.
Storm Group’s market value was higher than Winston Group’s. In his father’s eyes, this made him look even worse compared to Draven.
He clenched his fists instinctively.
Troy didn’t deny Draven’s skills, but there was no way Storm Group would have grown this fast without his mom.
So he hadn’t lost!
Jed noticed Troy’s bad mood but couldn’t help bringing it up. “Mr. Winston, Ayla works at Storm Group.”
Troy’s voice turned icy. “Oh?”
“I looked into it carefully. Before Draven returned, no one knew he was connected to Storm Group. Ayla didn’t know either, that’s why she took the job.”
Jed shared his thoughts. “Ayla is a secretary at Storm Group, probably a low-level one. She likely never even sees Draven.”
“What if she is Draven’s secretary?”
Troy didn’t really care about Ayla, but anything related to Draven instantly disgusted him.
Jed’s voice carried a hint of mockery. “Don’t worry. If Ayla were Draven’s secretary, she’d quit immediately. She knows your boundaries. She wouldn’t dare make you angry.”
Troy agreed.
The furthest Ayla would go was the two sarcastic remarks she made at lunch. She didn’t have the guts to get involved with Draven and go against him. That would be just stupid.
After hanging up, Troy was still in a bad mood.
Then Skyla messaged him on WhatsApp.
He read it, and most of his anger faded. Soon after, he changed clothes and went to see her.

The next day, Saturday.
The charity dinner started at 8 p.m., with guests arriving from 7, so Ayla had the whole day free.
It had been half a month since her procedure. She was slowly getting back into exercise, starting with light jogging.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
