Chapter 58 James Apologized
She planned to walk three more laps before going home.
Just as she was about to pass them, Draven, surprisingly, stopped her.
Ayla stopped, surprised. “Mr. Storm.”
Draven didn’t say anything, just stared coldly at James.
James picked up on the death glare and let out a sigh.
Then, he walked up to Ayla and said seriously, “Ayla, I was out of line yesterday. I shouldn’t have joked around or spread rumors about you and Draven. I was wrong. I won’t do it again. I hope you’re not mad.”
Ayla was taken aback.
It was rare to see James acting so normal.
But he was probably pressured by Draven into this apology; he wouldn’t apologize otherwise.
Ayla had faced too much disrespect back at the Winston Estate and heard worse, so James’ joke didn’t bother her at all. He didn’t need to apologize.
Still, he said it sincerely.
Ayla couldn’t help glancing at Draven.
He was as aloof and cold as ever, with an unapproachable vibe.
But he wasn’t a bad guy.
Ayla accepted James’ apology.
James finally breathed a sigh of relief, then couldn’t resist rambling again, “Ayla, you’re so nice! If you hadn’t forgiven me, Draven would’ve beaten me up!
“Draven crushed me in tennis just to make me apologize. You know what that means? It means he cares about your feelings!
“Most guys these days have no class. Someone as considerate as Draven is rare. So, you also think of him as a good guy, right?”
Ayla was at a loss for words.
James can’t stay normal for more than three seconds.
Before she could respond, Draven placed his hand on the back of James’s neck. His long fingers curled slightly, and with a push that seemed effortless, James stumbled forward.
Even at 6’1″, James looked helpless in front of Draven.
Draven stared at him. “One more word, and get out.”
His tone was flat and emotionless, yet somehow terrifying.
James slumped.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
