Chapter 597 Hurt
But no one opened the door. Of course not. Draven wouldn’t stay here anymore. Does he hate me now? I was the one who confessed. I was also the one who asked for the breakup. So how did I end up like this? I never wanted things to turn out this way, this all my fault?
Ayla didn’t even know how she got back to her bedroom. Her bag was left on the floor in the living room. She squatted down, hands shaking and pulled out her phone to call Halle.
Ayla didn’t even know what she was saying anymore. “I… I can’t… be alone right now. Can you come to stay with me? I can’t take it anymore. Halle, I really can’t take it. My body hurts so much. Everything hurts. Everywhere hurts. I feel like I’m going to die…”
After the phone slipped from her hand, Ayla collapsed onto the floor. She didn’t even have the strength to sob. Tears just flowed down silently.
Halle was worried about Ayla, so she hadn’t really left. The moment she got Ayla’s call, she jumped out of the car and ran.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Ayla’s door was open. Halle rushed inside and saw Ayla lying on the living room floor.
Ayla looked completely broken, her face full of despair.
Halle burst into tears right away. She picked Ayla up, gently patted her face, and soothed her. “I’m here…”
Only after seeing Halle did light return to Ayla’s eyes. She wrapped her arms tightly around Halle’s waist and buried her whole face in Halleschest. All her pain and bottled-up emotions poured out through her tears.
Ayla didn’t want to be this weak or dramatic. She was just heartbroken. The moment she came home, the breakup became painfully clear and she couldn’t hold it together anymore.
That whole week on her business trip, she had only been forcing herself to stay strong.
She realized she loved Draven far more than she thought. Ayla had never wanted to rely on anyone, yet she had treated him as her support. Now that support was ripped away completely.
“It hurts so much… My whole body hurts… I can breathe… Halle…”
Halle held Ayla tighter and tighter, desperately trying to pass her warmth to her. She truly wished she could take all of Ayla’s pain for her. You’ll be okay, Ayla. Everything will be okay…
Four days had passed since Ayla came back from her trip, and only now did she barely look like a normal person again. She was still living in the house filled with memories of Draven. What was once sweet was now unbearable, but she still didn’t want to move. She decided to stay.
After Ayla told Halle the real reason for the breakup, Halle genuinely wanted to kill Troy.
“According to the plan, you’re supposed to go see an art exhibition today,” Halle said, knocking on the studio door.
Ayla looked at the finished portrait. Draven’s eyes in the portrait seemed to be watching her.
She put down the brush. “Okay.”
As soon as she spoke, Halle pushed the door open and saw the painting.
As someone who often visited art shows, Halle was instantly struck by the emotion in the
painting. It was stunning. Even some well-known artists at exhibitions weren’t on the same level as Ayla.
Ayla’s expression looked the same as always. She seemed fine on the surface, but all her emotions were trapped inside.
Ayla was truly strong-willed. No matter how bad she felt, she never delayed her work. Her coworkers barely noticed anything was wrong. Thankfully, Halle kept an eye on her and dragged her out to drink and relax. Otherwise, Ayla would have worked herself to exhaustion.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
