Ayla’s words were sharp, but her expression stayed calm. That was the indifference that came after love had died. She could even manage a polite smile. “I’ve explained everything clearly. Let this be the last time. If you ask again, you’ll only embarrass yourself. You’ll just look more pathetic. This is the result you brought on yourself. Troy, stop hiding behind your childhood trauma. It’s time to grow up.”

Across Silvara River, Draven saw everything. He even noticed Ayla’s faint smile. Pain flashed through his eyes. His lips pressed tightly together as he turned away.

The fireworks would last for an hour.

It was Theoriel’s most romantic celebration. Yet the brilliant, colorful fireworks couldn’t comfort three broken hearts.

After the argument with Troy, Ayla’s mood was completely ruined.

Still, she hadn’t expected much from this birthday anyway. How much worse could it really get?

Nothing precious had been taken from her. She just wanted to stay far away from Troy.

He never should’ve come here. This city had been a promise and a secret shared only between her and Draven. But Troy had barged right in. The thought made Ayla clench her teeth again.

He had already forced his way into her relationship with Draven just as brutally.

Sometimes, Ayla honestly wondered if she owed Troy something from the past life.

If she truly did, she hoped she’d been an unforgivable villain who had hurt him beyond repair. Maybe then, all the misery she’d endured now would feel more acceptable.

Leaving Troy standing there, completely shaken. Ayla walked alone along Silvara River. After a long while, she found a quieter spot, sat down, and silently watched the fireworks that still filled the sky.

It was really romantic. The city, the visitors, even the locals-everything felt soaked in

romance.

Ayla began watching the people passing by. First a pair of teenage friends. Then a couple in their prime. Then an elderly pair walked slowly together.

The emotion hit her without warning. Tears slipped from the corner of her eye. Was she truly that sad? Not really. She was healthy, had friends, and had a career. She lacked nothing.

Chapter 613 Dream

But seeing such real, pure happiness made the tears fall anyway.

They weren’t tears of pain. They were tears shed for other people’s happiness.

When the fireworks finally ended, Ayla returned to her hotel. She handled a bit of work, washed up, and went to bed.

She lay there alone.

She had grown used to sleeping beside someone to being wrapped in warm, st Sleeping alone again came with a kind of withdrawal.

At first, she barely slept at all. Later, she had to hug a body pillow just to fall asleep.

That habit had stayed with her.

The hotel bed had several large pillows. Ayla hugged one and closed her eyes.

Maybe it was the jet lag. The moment she lay down exhaustion swept over her, and she fell asleep almost instantly.

And unsurprisingly, she dreamed of Draven.

Ayla dreamed of him almost every night. That wasn’t an exaggeration. Most of the time, it was only his outline, fragments of their past together. Even so, the dreams always felt painfully real-because even the pain inside them was sharp.

In the dream, Ayla caught up to Draven and firmly grabbed his hand, unwilling to let go. “Where are you going?”

He turned and looked at her gently. “Ayla, why did you break up with me?”

Shelfroze. We didn’t break up.”

We’ve been apart for a long time.”

“What?”

“Ayla, think carefully. Why did you want to break up? We didn’t have to separate.”

The scene shifted quickly.

Mylawashback in that suffocating state.

have two kids with Troy,” she said. I couldn’t accept it right away…”
