The suffocating pain from the dream merged instantly with reality, making it hard to breathe.

Usually, dreams faded fast after waking, letting her mind push them aside. But she remembered what she’d just seen clearly.

Dreams were built from one’s own thoughts. Draven’s relentless questions were her questioning herself over and over again.

At first, she had been sure about the breakup. She had her reasons, firmly believing she was doing the right thing.

But as Halle said, if she didn’t want to, she didn’t have to. Everything boiled down to one thought. The control over this relationship had always been in her hands. So why was she stuck? She needed more time to figure it out.

Right now, though, there was no time to think.

Someone knocked at her door.

It was the hotel staff.

When Ayla opened the door, a staff member handed her a bouquet. “Hello, Ms. Keaton. This is a gift from the hotel for today’s guests. Sorry, we didn’t deliver it earlier, so we came by tonight. Hope we didn’t disturb you.”

“Thank you. It’s fine,” Ayla said, taking the beautiful flowers. She noticed several stems of her favorite bird of paradise. “I love them.”

After closing the door, she set the bouquet down

There was a card tucked inside.

“Happy birthday. May you fall into the galaxy like starlight and shine forever.”

It was written entirely in Moblosian. She didn’t know who had written it, but the handwriting was careful, each letter perfect, clearly done with a fountain pen.

Since the hotel had her check-in info, they knew it was her birthday and had crafted a personal note. High-end hotels often offered this kind of thoughtful service.

Ayla held the card for a long time, then looked at the bird-of-paradise flowers. Memories

flooded her mind. Draven knew she loved those flowers. He used to get them for her often. Her eyes reddened.

It was just a hotel bouquet. But in the middle of the night, with her emotions unsettled, those elegant words brought unexpected warmth and comfort.

After delivering the flowers, the hotel staff hurried down to the first floor.

“Sir, the flowers and card were delivered. Anything else?”

Thinking about the tip, which was basically months of salary, the staff member was extra courteous to the tall, handsome Eastern man in front of him.

Though his features weren’t typically Eldorian, his frame was just as striking. His presence reminded the staff member of royalty, like a noble prince, with an added air of Eastern mystery that sparked the imagination. Meeting someone so striking and generous made the day for the staff.

Draven asked, “Is she alone?”

“Yes,” the staff member replied. “That beautiful lady was very happy with the flowers. She sa thank you.”

Draven clenched his fist. “Was she really happy?”

The staff member had already spun an entire romantic story in his head and answered honestly. “She said she loved the bird-of-paradise flowers. Sir, you know her preferences and birthday. You could go tell her your wishes in person.”

Draven said nothing more and turned to leave.

When he had seen Ayla smiling at Troy beneath the fireworks, he’d lost control.

In that instant, his heart had been a complete mess.

He finally understood why he hadn’t looked into Ayla’s whereabouts before coming to Theoriel alone. He’d been hoping she’d show up. If she wasn’t here, he instinctively didn’t want to know.

He hadn’t expected Ayla to really come.

She hadn’t forgotten their promise.

And neither had he.
