The next day, Ayla said goodbye to Theoriel and flew straight to Moblosia.
Troy called, offering his private jet.
Ayla refused. The thought of being stuck on a long flight with Troy drained her patience.
Whether Troy actually took her words to heart or simply didn’t want to lose face, he didn’t push.
He had always been an arrogant, self-important man. He knew nothing could change now, and most of it was his fault. Still, he felt no shame. Even with a knife at his throat, he’d probably sneer and say, “This is who I am. If I had to do it all over again, I’d do the same again.”
If he ever truly changed, he wouldn’t be Troy anymore.
Ayla only wanted him to stop causing trouble. As long as it didn’t involve her, he could de whatever he wanted.
Two children meant two lives. It was serious, and Troy hadn’t even told his family elders.
That was his business. Ayla wouldn’t interferė. Her focus was only on the kids’ upbringing.
What she really needed to figure out was how to tell Kaleb.
At first, she couldn’t even manage her own emotions. If she told him back then, he’d just
worry.
So she kept putting it off.
She never expected him to find out everything from Bria.
A week earlier, Kaleb came to her office. Ayla assumed he’d explode at her for hiding something so important.
But he didn’t. His eyes-so much like hers, but sharper-showed concern. He didn’t demand answers. Instead, he asked small questions, each one weighted with worry.

Finally, Ayla said, “You don’t have to worry about me, Kaleb.”

Kaleb lowered his head and clenched his teeth. “just can’t imagine you having two kids.”
Ayla cupped his face gently. “It’s not a big deal. We’ll figure it out step by step.”
When Kaleb looked up, his eyes reddened. “Ayla I just…” His voice caught, but he forced himself to continue. “I suddenly miss Mom.”
Ayla’s eyes reddened instantly as well.
“If she knew you had kids, would she…” Kaleb trailed off. But from his clumsy words, she could tell how fast he was growing up. He no longer reacted with anger or blame. He was thinking about how to help her.
Kaleb wasn’t the prickly teen he used to be. He was stronger, taller, and maturing. In him, Ayla already saw traces of Juliana’s calm, disciplined nature.
When Ayla landed, Halle was already waiting for her.
Troy had landed earlier and was in his car.
Ayla got into Halle’s car, following behind Troy’s vehicle as they drove forward.
Music played softly in the car. Halle asked, “How was your birthday?”
“Not bad. I got flowers from the hotel.” Even now thinking about it made Ayla feel warm. The timing had been perfect. If she’d received them the moment she arrived, it probably wouldn’t have left such a deep impression.
“Sounds like good service. I’ll go there next time. Send me the address.”
“Sure.”
Halle looked ahead. “Have you and Troy sorted things with the kids yet?”
Ayla replied, “Troy went behind my back with IVF. He’ll handle raising them, but they share half my DNA. We’re both legal guardians until they’re adults.”
“So you’re co-parenting?”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
