Bria was about to send her location, but she didn't realize someone had been following her. Suddenly, something hard hit the back of her head, and she passed out right away.
Since both her parents were here, she had slipped out by herself without telling anyone, and she hadn't brought any bodyguards. No matter how she looked at it, she never thought anyone would actually attack her.
She had made enemies before, but nobody had ever really dared touch her.
Right before she fully blacked out, the location was sent.
...
After Ayla got sick and answered Troy's call, he started using the kids to threaten her. He didn't bother pretending anymore.
From then on, she stopped believing he could ever be a good father.
Someone like Troy didn't deserve that role. At that moment, Ayla gave up on the idea of raising the kids together with him.
Of course, the Winstons would try to interfere. But if they truly cared about the children's future, Ayla still believed she had a chance.
At least until the kids were old enough to understand things, they had to stay with her.
Ayla blocked every way Troy could contact her. She knew how to do it. If he tried to reach her, it wouldn't work. Even if he used a different phone, she would block it again each time.
She wanted him completely gone from her everyday life.
From now on, she would raise the kids on her own, and Troy was the biggest problem in her way.
From what Draven said, the only place she fell short against Troy was in power and status. In that area, she had no way to fight him.
The past few days at his private home had also been a test for Draven. He took great care of the kids and stayed patient the whole time. Besides that, they had already spent eight months together before. She knew he was naturally the kind of person who looked after others. Even if things felt a bit unfamiliar now, his true nature wouldn't change much. That was why she chose to trust him.
Draven was the hands-on father Ayla had carefully chosen for her children.
There were still unresolved issues between them. But during those days together, Draven talked with her about what had happened between him and Jeremy and shared some things he was finally willing to say. Slowly, Ayla started to understand the way he had been holding things back.
If that had been four days earlier, she would have felt uneasy because Draven seemed unfamiliar.
But now, she felt like she was getting to know him again from the start.
As he opened up bit by bit, she felt steadier inside.
Ayla couldn't say she completely trusted Draven yet, but if the children ever fell into Troy's hands, she knew she wouldn't survive that pain.
Seeing what Troy was capable of, Ayla even feared he might hurt the kids, send her photos of them being sick, torture her mind, and crush her completely.
She had to protect her children. She would never allow something like that to happen.
She needed to make the choice first, step forward herself, and never hesitate. After that, she needed a reliable partner.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
