There was even less hope!
No, something didn't feel right. Back then, Fabiola had only told Melody simple details about Bria's background. Fabiola was always careful and dependable. So how could she have missed something this important?
A frightening thought struck Melody. She spun around to face her so-called best friend. Her face twisted, and she screamed like someone in pain, "Fabiola, did you plan this on purpose?! Did you only tell me part of Bria's background so I'd think she was nobody? Why would you do that?! You just wanted to watch me fail, didn't you?!"
Fabiola looked shocked. "Melody, how could you think that about me?"
"It was you!" Melody suddenly recalled many things. Feeling trapped and desperate, she fired back, "Back when my brother told me to return to Zheron, you sent people to pick me up at the airport. You're so capable. How could you not find out about Bria? Just because I secretly stayed in Trensea, my brother found out later and scolded me badly during the New Year! Even now, I'm still being careful at home! Fabiola, how could you betray me like this?!"
By now, Melody felt completely certain. Too many things didn't add up.
For example, when Bria beat her in that warehouse before, why hadn't Fabiola come help? Did she really react too slowly? Even if she went to get security and knocked on the door, Melody should have heard something. But she heard nothing at all!
After causing a disaster, Melody now felt betrayed by her own friend. Rage filled her chest so strongly that it felt like it might tear her apart.
She clenched her teeth, her voice sharp with anger. "Fabiola! How could you do this to me?!"
Fabiola looked like she had just been attacked without warning. First shock showed on her face, then confusion, then hurt and sadness. "Melody, I only followed what you wanted. How can you turn around and accuse me now? Back then, you wanted to go after Ayla's entertainment company, and I helped you. You wanted to stay in Trensea, and I supported you. I did so much for you, yet you don't see any of it. Now you're saying I framed you? How could you treat me like this?"
Melody was so furious that she almost coughed blood. It felt like she was finally seeing Fabiola's true colors for the first time. She shouted angrily, "No! That's not true! It couldn't be a coincidence that I ran into Bria today! You arranged that too, didn't you? Right—you invited me to dinner! You even chose the place!"
Fabiola looked offended, like she had been wrongly accused. "You were the one who said you wanted Western food. We eat at that restaurant often. You just happened to run into Bria there. How does that turn into me planning something? I'm not a fortune teller... Melody, you've really disappointed me!"
Fabiola refused to admit anything. And worst of all, everything she said sounded reasonable. Her expression, her tone, her eyes—none of them showed any problem. But Melody believed Fabiola had done it. It was a gut feeling. Fabiola must have known Bria was nearby, which was why she chose that place. But right now, Melody couldn't find any flaw in her explanation.
All Melody felt was a horrible realization. The woman she trusted the most—the always-perfect Fabiola—was actually fake, calculating, and terrifyingly skilled at manipulating people. Had she been played this whole time? How could that be? She had trusted Fabiola so completely, and now Fabiola had actually used her like a tool! Melody wished she could tear Fabiola's face apart.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
