Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 742

Those four months of silence and distance—Ayla knew she had no right to complain, since she was the one who had initiated the breakup. Still, when she thought about it, there was a lingering sadness. In the end, it was because Draven hadn't tried to win her back that they had taken such a long detour.

At the time, Ayla herself had also been in a state of chaos. Those four months had been a slow process of growth, of figuring things out.

For example, she now understood much better what she actually wanted.

"I'll handle things with Max myself. Stop giving him a hard time," Ayla said. She had been joking around with Max for a few days, and they had all been having a good time. Max had even reminded her about something, or she might have ended up getting taken by Troy.

A flicker passed through Draven's eyes. "Alright."

Ayla noticed his expression and smiled. "Are you jealous?"

Draven said, "If I made sure he never saw you again, would that count as jealousy?"

Ayla laughed. It reminded her of how she used to worry about talking to him about things like this. Back then, it showed how they had never truly gotten close to each other's inner worlds.

Draven had taken care of her before, but around him, Ayla had shown people-pleasing tendencies. She would instinctively go along with him, adjust herself to match him, and she didn't dare ask too many questions.

That hadn't been healthy.

During those three years with Troy, she had rarely gotten any response. There were many times she had wanted to press for answers, but she always held herself back at the last moment.

Since this was a new beginning, Ayla wanted to try changing.

"It does," Ayla said. "It's a little too dominant and overbearing, but I like it."

Draven pulled her into his arms and whispered by her ear, "What else do you like?"

What else did she like? There were so many things she could list.

Recently, for example, she had liked how close they had been that night when she had a fever, when Draven held her as they slept.

They hadn't touched each other for four months. They had been intimate before, and when Draven reacted, Ayla felt it too.

Of course, those things could be said another time.

"You can guess. I don't want to tell you."

Draven didn't press her. He simply held her. She was about to return to Trensea, and she was leaving in a hurry. He wanted to stop her, but it wasn't like they would never see each other again, so he had no real reason to hold her back. "Wait for me a week."

To keep Troy from bothering her, he needed to make arrangements in advance. Honestly, staying in Zheron would have been safest. Troy wouldn't even be able to get close. But Ayla's life and work were in Trensea. Draven could be anywhere, so of course he would follow her and meet whatever she needed.

"Okay," Ayla said. "I don't want to see Troy right now. You should have people keep him away from me too."
