Fabiola put on a gentle and approachable front to satisfy Phil's need to feel like a father. Phil was completely wrapped around her finger by the way she played weak.
But since their father-daughter relationship was good, she didn't feel wronged by it. Fabiola gained her father's affection through that act, enjoying everything that came with it. In a way, it worked out well for her.
Ayla, on the other hand, had completely lost any emotional attachment to Phil. Whatever he did no longer mattered to her. Whether he showed affection or not meant nothing. What mattered most was that her own mindset stayed steady.
So Ayla said to Fabiola, "That's your business. Hannah works with me now. She doesn't need to do anything for you. Please don't bother her."
"I won't take up much of your time. Let me treat you both to coffee. We're all in the entertainment industry. There's plenty of room for collaboration."
Fabiola had a harmless-looking face. Her long, straight hair fell to her waist, and she wore vintage-style clothes that made her look especially elegant. She had grown up surrounded by care and had never suffered much, so her skin was pale and smooth from head to toe.
No one would have guessed that someone with such a gentle, classic beauty could actually be so shameless.
When other people acted shameless, it was annoying. But when Fabiola did it, it came off soft and mild. Even if you scolded her a few times, you still couldn't bring yourself to treat her coldly.
So even though Fabiola was being persistent, her tone remained polite and composed. If you spoke harshly to her, you would start wondering if you were the one in the wrong. To outsiders, it would look like the person being bothered was the one being unreasonable.
Ayla had no good way to deal with her. Besides, there was the appeal of potential collaboration. The resources in Fabiola's hands were definitely greater than hers.
So Ayla and Hannah ended up going out for coffee with Fabiola.
By coincidence, Ayla ran into Max.
She hadn't contacted him these past few days. Max had high emotional intelligence, so he probably understood her stance. This time, when they met, he didn't act like her boyfriend.
Ayla greeted him politely. "I need to talk to you."
Max handled it with ease and clear boundaries. He looked at Ayla deeply, then nodded. "Okay."
Fabiola knew about Ayla's marriage to Troy, so she also knew a bit about Troy's friends.
Max and Troy had been very close, so Fabiola recognized him. But she didn't know what had happened between Max and Ayla. It all felt a bit subtle and unclear.
So Fabiola asked Hannah, "Do you know what their relationship is?"
"Not really." Hannah truly didn't know. She only knew that Ayla had broken up with Draven, and afterward, she hadn't shown any interest in dating.
But the way that man had greeted them just now made it obvious he wasn't ordinary. He seemed very smooth and experienced. Could this be Ayla's new relationship?
"Did they date?" Fabiola asked again.
Hannah hadn't expected Fabiola to think the same thing. "Doesn't look like it."

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
