Troy turned to look right away.

Max leaned back with a relaxed posture, and his eyes stayed locked on Ayla. He watched her with that easy smile and talked like nothing could bother him.

Ayla looked calm while she listened and replied now and then.

Troy’s brows tightened because he had no idea when they became that familiar.

Max knew her better than the others did, but they never talked this smoothly before. None of it felt like casual small talk.

Skyla said, “I’ll call Max and tell him to come to the court.”

Max had finally broken the distance between him and Ayla, and he actually enjoyed talking for once.

Then his phone rang and cut straight through the moment. He answered, “What is it?”

Skyla said, “We’re already at the court.”

Max frowned and said, “I never asked you to come.”

He remembered only complaining last night about James asking him to play, but he never invited anyone.

Skyla said, “You mentioned it, and I realized I haven’t played in a while. I called Troy, and Rolf is coming too.”

Max sighed and said, “Fine. Wait for me there.”
