Bria was in a better mood now, so she teased, "We've already slept together, and you can't even look at me? It's not like I'm naked."
Kaleb didn't say a word.
"You've even touched me before. Don't tell me you forgot." Bria leaned in closer and closer, her hand sliding over his shoulder, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed by Kaleb. He turned back to face her, his gaze no longer wandering. He looked straight into her eyes as he warned, "Stay away from me."
Bria couldn't stand the look of disgust on his face and let out a cold laugh. "We've already been that close, and now you're telling me to stay away? Isn't it a little too late?"
Kaleb's expression turned dark. "Do you have no shame?"
Bria raised a brow. "We've known each other this long, and you still don't get whether I have any shame? If I cared about that, I wouldn't have done any of this. If you'd just accepted it earlier, you wouldn't be this shocked now. Kaleb, the way you're reacting just shows how little you actually understand me. I'm honestly disappointed."
After she said that, Kaleb's face looked even worse, which only made her want to laugh more. So she pushed further. "Just be with me, Kaleb. We've already crossed that line. Wouldn't it be weird to not be together now? Don't you think so?"
Kaleb's face turned ashen, his gaze heavy. "You really have the nerve to say that to me?"
Bria smirked. "What's wrong with my nerve? Look at me. I'm gorgeous. Are you really not attracted at all?" Then her eyes darkened. "Of course, I'm not about to pretend to be some sweet, innocent girl just because that's your type."
It was like punching a pillow. No matter what he said, Bria wouldn't listen. She'd just escalate things further.
"Get out," he said, so angry that he didn't even know what else to say.
Bria burst out laughing. "Kaleb, you're kinda adorable. You don't even know how to argue. You're the avoidant type—you never take the first step. The second I pull back, you start doubting everything and slowly back away, like taking 100 steps back at once. Honestly, what you need is someone like me—someone passionate, chasing after you no matter how you act, someone who won't give up on you. You pretend to be high and mighty, while I'm shameless. We're a perfect match!
"Besides, we've already seen everything there is to see. Why are you still avoiding me? Can you just act like a man for once? I seriously can't stand how shy you're being."
Kaleb admitted to himself that he did have avoidant tendencies. But when he truly loved someone, he could take initiative. He had been planning to be the one to break the tension with Bria.
But then he accidentally overheard her real thoughts.
Those hurtful words, that fake closeness, were a fatal blow for someone like him.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
