Kaleb forced his emotions down, his gaze cold as it swept over Bria's face. He almost wanted to see through her skin and figure out what her heart was really made of.
Over the past half month, he'd found himself thinking about Bria again and again. He couldn't even control it. But now that he was actually looking at her, all those vague images in his mind shattered. Reality reminded him exactly what kind of person she really was.
Their values, the way they thought, the way they acted, were completely different.
Kaleb's world was like a perfectly structured square. Bria was an irregular, unpredictable polygon.
His world was a black-and-white silent film. Bria was a burst of bold colors.
Kaleb's gaze drifted to the bite mark on her shoulder. It ruined what should have been flawless skin, yet instead of looking out of place, it carried a strange, vivid beauty.
Bria was unlike any woman he had ever known. Bad, vicious, unapologetically bold, yet when she was good, she could be very good.
Someone like Kaleb, who followed rules and order, would he really fall for someone so completely different from himself?
Why would he like someone so terrible?
Someone who was the exact opposite of everything he stood for?
Kaleb looked at her and asked calmly, "Didn't you say I disgust you? Now that you've slept with me and shared a bed with me, you're not disgusted anymore?"
Bria let out a cold snort. "I'm disgusted. You make me sick. I even hate you. If I don't let this out, if I don't take it out on you, I can't move on. So, yeah, I can put up with that disgust and still do things with you. Like on Valentine's Day, when I kissed you first."
As she said those last few words, her eyes dropped to his lips.
Then suddenly, she leaned in and bit down on his lips, kissing him hard. It wasn't so much a kiss as it was punishment.
Bria was the kind of person who struck without warning. Even something like a kiss came like an ambush.
Kaleb instantly felt something soft press against his lips, followed by an overwhelming force. It was nothing like that brief touch back at the bar. This was completely different.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
