Kaleb stared at the footage for a long, long time. When the staff called out to him, he didn't even hear it.
Then he turned and left without a word, walking fast, like he was chasing after someone.
The employee was completely confused. "What's with that guy? Isn't he going after the thief anymore?”
Of course, Kaleb wasn't going after any thief. He was going to find Bria to get answers from her. He needed to know what she was trying to do!
He couldn't wait any longer. He didn't want to keep waiting.
Kaleb called Andrew directly and asked where Bria was. Andrew felt like he'd seen a ghost. Kaleb actually reached out to me first?
Andrew was abroad handling family business. All he knew was that Bria was staying at a villa in the suburbs.
Once Kaleb got the address, he drove straight there.
Andrew tried to inform Bria about it, but her phone wouldn't go through.
What's going on? These past two months, Bria has been posting all that calm, detached nonsense in the group chat. Has she seriously gone off to become a nun or something?
...
When Kaleb arrived at Bria's villa, all he saw was flames. A crowd of people surrounded a sports car that had caught fire, shouting anxiously.
A terrible feeling surged in his chest. When he rushed closer, he realized Bria had run into the car.
She shoved away the staff trying to pull her back and charged straight into the blazing car again.
Kaleb's face went pale. Every muscle in his body locked up instantly. For a split second, it felt like his heart had stopped beating.
Damn it!
What is she doing?
He hadn't even gotten close when the intense heat hit him. Without thinking, Kaleb pushed through the crowd and ran straight toward the car.
The moment he reached it, someone threw themselves into his arms.
Kaleb knew it was Bria. Without hesitation, he rolled to the side with her. Once he steadied himself, he pulled back to check her condition. Some of her hair had been singed, her face was blackened by smoke, and her hands were badly burned, red and blistering. Kaleb immediately called for help.
The villa staff reacted quickly. Bria was given the best possible treatment soon. Her hands had been burned, covered in blisters, but fortunately, the affected area wasn't too large. After examining her, the doctor said that as long as she took care during recovery, there wouldn't be any scarring.
Kaleb's expression was grim. His lips pressed tight as he watched the medical staff move around busily, his gaze heavy.
What if the car had exploded?
She could've died.
When Kaleb appeared in front of her, Bria's mind filled with guesses. What happened? Why did he suddenly come looking for me at the villa?
Kaleb really went out of his way to find me? That's like the sun rising in the west.
They hadn't seen each other for two months. She had no idea what he'd been doing, but she was certain of one thing: he hadn't shown the slightest sign of wanting to fix things between them.
Bria couldn't figure Kaleb out. Lost in her thoughts, she waited until he finally showed up.
Kaleb stood in front of her at last, only a few feet away.
After two months apart, Bria actually felt a little awkward. What's that about?
Kaleb stood there, his gaze carrying weight as it swept over her from head to toe, like he was measuring whether she was alright. Only after confirming she seemed fine did the heaviness in his eyes ease slightly.
Of course, Bria was happy he'd come to find her. She spoke first. "Sit.”
Kaleb said nothing and took a seat on the couch beside her.
Bria studied him. "Why did you come to find me?”
Kaleb glanced at her. "When did you get back?”
Bria froze for a second. His tone sounded more like an interrogation. She answered, "Today.”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
