No one would have guessed that the two of them were interested in each other.
But when they were alone together, it wasn't like at the office, where there was always a sense of distance between them.
Herman didn't avoid Blake when he took the call, so she overheard it and naturally asked, "Something going on with your sister?"
Herman nodded. "I need to go to Londmere."
Blake didn't say much after that. It was Herman's personal matter, and she had no intention of interfering.
Herman, however, thought of something work-related. "You're scheduled to go to Londmere for a business trip in a couple of days. We can leave early and go together."
Blake checked her schedule and had no objections.
So the two of them flew to Londmere together on a private jet.
They each brought their own assistants.
With assistants around, Herman couldn't do anything out of line. He remained the refined and composed vice president.
Blake, as always, carried her strong presence. The two of them handled everything professionally, occasionally chatting, their interactions completely normal.
Herman had even grown used to this kind of companionship.
He knew that when Blake traveled for work, she only packed solid-colored suits.
Once they arrived in a major city abroad, she would only go out briefly after finishing work, maybe have a drink or two.
Blake was like a lioness. Her presence was powerful, her gaze sharp. She was intelligent, composed, and carried an understated kind of allure that felt untouchable.
Herman had long been completely captivated.
After arriving at the hotel, Herman put down his luggage and went to find Melody.
When they met, Melody's condition was worse than he had expected.
She broke down and threw herself against him, venting her emotions.
She cast herself as the biggest victim in the world, as if everyone owed her something. She resented and hated everyone.
Then she brought up the past again, blaming him for not helping her get together with Draven. She insisted she could have married Draven and lived a happy life.
It was all because Herman hadn't helped her, she said, that she ended up overseas, being chased around by Bria.
Herman knew Melody wouldn't listen to reason, so he didn't waste his breath arguing.
He immediately called a doctor.
Melody's state was too unstable. It wasn't something that could be fixed with a few words.
However, Herman's calm way of handling things only made Melody feel like he didn't care about her.
She shouted, "Herman! Have you already decided you don't want to deal with me anymore? You think I'm annoying, don't you?"

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
